NOR’EASTER CONTINUES TO TREND CLOSER TO NANTUCKET ISLAND… ACCUMULATING SNOW POSSIBLE DURING THE PRE-DAWN HOURS OF WEDNESDAY MORNING ALONG AND EAST OF I-91 IN WMASS, CMASS, CHESHIRE COUNTY IN NH, AS WELL AS TOLLAND AND WINDHAM COUNTIES IN NE.CT… (8:30pm Monday)
Good evening everybody, I wish this was an April Fool’s joke, but unlike the 2-6″ of snow that fell in western Franklin County on up into the spine of the southern Green Mountains this morning from unexpected upslope snowfall as colder air advected into the region, this coming Wednesday morning may be wintry as well for some.
SUMMARY
–For tonight, it’s very cold, with lows dropping into the mid/upper teens in the high terrain to near 20 degrees in the valley and northern CT, and into CMass
–For tomorrow, high pressure slides south of our region and to our east, with plenty of sunshine, and highs in the low 40s in the high terrain and upper 40s in the valley
–Clouds build Tuesday night with lows dropping into the upper 20s to low 30s across much of the region, with some mid 30s possible in southern CMass and northeast CT
–A strong storm system will track northeast to the Carolina coast and pick up moisture along a boundary over the southeast U.S.
–It will then be guided more northerly due to some ridging over the western Atlantic Ocean
–This storm will develop a large cloud shield, and will develop rapidly once over the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean
–Anywhere from a quarter inch to half an inch of liquid water is expected over the CT River Valley into CMass and northeast CT
–Temps should be cold enough, and precip should fall hard enough, and during the coldest time of the new day to produce heavy wet snow across our region before dawn Wednesday morning
–Some rain may mix in south of the Pike, but right now, I’m concerned for wet snow
–The further east you go toward the Boston area, while remaining in Worcester County and northeast CT, the heavier the snow should be
–For now, it looks like a coating to 2″ is possible in WMass, along and east of the I-91 corridor, including southwest NH and northern half of Worcester County
–To the west of that, I think some coatings are possible, but there looks to be a sharp cutoff in precip as dry air will be in place before the precip falls into it toward the surface
–In the southern half of Worcester County and into northeast CT, 2-4″ cannot be ruled out
–The storm departs quickly and is out of here before noon on Wednesday, which looks to become a nice day with sunshine and highs in the upper 40s to low 50s

Rotten tomatoes, instead of being hurled at DHTWN, can be mailed to PO Box 153, S. Deerfield, MA 01373.
As it turns out, I like making tomato sauce, so let’s turn your contempt for winter weather and its messenger into an edible sauce that’s good for the whole family.

WATCH FOR PATCHY BLACK ICE THIS MORNING, ESPECIALLY IN THE HILLS WHERE REMNANT SNOW PACKS LINGER… FAIR AND COOL THE NEXT TWO DAYS… COASTAL STORM COULD GET CLOSE ENOUGH TO BRING SOME LIGHT WET SNOW TO THE HIGH TERRAIN EAST OF THE CT RIVER, INCLUDING SOUTHWEST NH, EASTERN FRANKLIN COUNTY, NORTHEAST CT AND THE WORCESTER HILLS… MORE RAIN POSSIBLE BY FRIDAY… (5:50am Mon)
Good morning everybody, after perhaps an isolated snow shower in SVT or northwest MA, we will see sunny skies develop with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s as high pressure approaches from the west.
With super dry conditions today, and west winds gusting to 30mph or so, an elevated hazard for fire spread is possible, so please be alert to that.
A very cold night for early April lies ahead with lows in the upper teens to mid 20s by dawn Tuesday morning.
High pressure continues to move east on Tuesday with highs in the mid to upper 40s and lows in the low 30s as we cloud up.
A coastal storm will graze southern New England passing south of Nantucket Tuesday night as it strengthens rapidly off the Carolina coastline.
This will bring a windy rain storm (a Nor’easter!) to Cape Cod and the Islands, but may spread a large enough precip shield to its northwest as to involve eastern parts of WMass and especially northeast CT and Worcester County.
If this happens early enough on Wednesday morning, some light snow is possible, and some coatings may occur as well.
Otherwise, it’s a fast move, and we should see sunshine breakout in the afternoon with highs in the low to mid 50s, so nothing to get too worked up about. Lows Wednesday night drop into the low to mid 30s.
Thursday is sunny with highs in the low to mid 50s before clouds build again on Thursday night in advance of another storm that looks to bring rain to our region Friday and Friday night.
After some morning showers Saturday, much of the weekend looks fair and mild with highs in the mid to upper 50s.
Have a great day!
