Western Mass Regional Weather Report for Tuesday, April 22, 2025

TODAY’S NUTSHELL: Good morning folks, we’re dealing with patchy fog this morning after overnight showers that dropped a tenth to a third of an inch of rain across the region. Fog and clouds will burn off leading to a string of mild and sunny days through Friday before we get a Saturday soaker, based on what I’m seeing at the moment. That’ll be followed by a sweeter, sunnier, and still-mild Sunday into Monday.

YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning everybody, after receiving about a tenth to a third of an inch of rain overnight, we’re watching the final light showers move east and out of the region with some patchy fog lingering along with clouds.
However, our morning gloom will not be dictating the day, as our giant yellow-white orb, the ejecta from which we all emanate, will blast through the deck and provide abundant sunshine by this afternoon and push high temps into the 60s to mid 70s with westerly breezes gusting up to 25mph at times.
We should see mostly clear skies tonight with winds slackening later, as lows drop into the mid 30s to mid 40s from north to south across the greater WMass region.
For Wednesday through Friday, high pressure and sunshine should dominate, save for a lone shower or two Thursday night as a very weak wave whips through our zonal flow that is running west to east across the northern half of the U.S. through New England.
This is why I’m taking Wednesday and Thursday off: fair weather will dominate, and after a long winter stretch I could use that bit of extra time to work on the final parts of my free mobile weather app so I can get that released to you asap.
Wednesday through Friday look gorgeous with highs in the 60s to near 70º Wednesday, and then the mid 60s to mid 70s Thursday and Friday, with lows in the 40s throughout.
A shower or two are possible Thursday night but no big whoop.
By Friday night, we’re clouding up ahead of a stronger system that will be associated with a frontal boundary. The two will draw juicy southerly moisture up the eastern seaboard and produce a soaking rain the way it looks now for Saturday, especially into the afternoon and evening with highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s.
After rain quits Saturday night, another area of high pressure works into the region for Sunday and Monday with sunshine and continued mild temperatures.
Have a great day and I’ll be back by Friday morning at the latest!
