YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning folks, with a shortwave moving into the northeast and reinforcing cold air coming into southern New England, an unexpected area of snow showers formed in the late pre-dawn hours and is pushing through the Berkshires and into the western hilltowns this morning.
Fresh coatings up to an inch are possible, with lowered visibility as this activity tracks southeast into the valley and weakens with time.
It also represents a leading edge of gusty winds for today, as Wind Advisories have been hoisted for the Berkshires and western hilltowns of WMass with westerly gusts region-wide expected to hit 30-50mph (highest in the western high terrain, as indicated).
Highs will reach the low to mid 30s today with partly sunny skies and windy conditions, and a few more isolated outages are possible.
Lows tonight will dip into the upper teens to low 20s with continued breezy conditions and gusts of 20-30mph, putting wind chills down into the teens so bundle up if you’re out on the town tonight!
For Sunday, another chance for scattered rain or snow showers is possible with light accumulations in the SVT high peaks. Otherwise, it’s partly sunny for the greater WMass region with highs in the mid to upper 30s and lows in the 20s.
Aside from a few showers on Thursday, the upcoming work week looks mostly fair and milder with highs in the 40s and 50s and lows in the 30s, and I will detail the dailies with much more granularity in Sunday morning’s report to get you prepped for the work week.
Have a great day and I hope we can stick together in 2025, as my annual support drive ends a week from tomorrow (secure click to support Dave’s work through 2025 below):
