YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning everybody, we’ve got patchy dense fog out there due to a low level inversion (i.e. a temperature setup where it’s warmer aloft than at the ground), which has trapped low level moisture at the surface.
Some fog patches may be tough to evaporate and more likely than not will last into mid to late morning.
Otherwise, we can expect a partly sunny to develop by afternoon with a few showers of rain or graupel/snow this afternoon in the western high terrain of the Berkshires, SVT or western hilltowns with highs in the upper 30s to upper 40s.
After a few scattered snow showers tonight, lows will drop into the mid 20s to low 30s.
On Wednesday a weak disturbance will pass well southeast of our region bringing a few showers to far eastern CT, but another wave will swing through the greater WMass region in the afternoon and pop some diurnal scattered rain or snow showers (any snow showers would probably be present late in the day when temps cool).
Highs Wednesday will reach the upper 30s to upper 40s with under mixed sun and clouds with lows dropping into the mid to upper 20s with a few mixed showers in the evening, with most staying dry.
Thursday and Friday should feature more in the way of sunshine with highs in the low 40s to low 50s, and lows either side of 30º.
The weekend, however, looks to feature way more clouds than sun, with inclement conditions developing.
There’s a lot to parse out between now and then, so without getting into too much detail, we’ll be stuck between a high pressure area to the northeast and milder conditions to our southwest.
This boundary will focus periods of precipitation across parts of the greater WMass region Saturday, Sunday and conclude on Monday as a storm sweeps everything east and out of New England by Tuesday.
I do think that while Sunday and Monday should feature mostly plain rain, it is the Saturday and Saturday night period that could feature a mix of snow and ice in northern areas, north of the Pike, and more likely north of the Rt. 2 corridor, so some wintry impacts are possible.
I will continue to work on getting it all sorted out for you, but for now watch for visibility changes this morning in any patchy fog, and have a great day!
