YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning everybody, we’re kicking off our Wednesday with temps in the upper 20s and 30s, with a few spots up into the low 40s, notably at elevation.
We’re set to soar into the low to mid 60s today under mostly sunny skies with high pressure wedged along the eastern seaboard between a low out in the Atlantic and a blizzard out in the Plains states.
Enjoy this lovely day, as I don’t think we’ll see temps like this for a while with some cooler shots anticipated through late March as we kick off astronomical Spring on Friday at 5am.
For tonight, lows will drop into the mid 30s to low 40s, and by Thursday, clouds will start to build with time, with slightly cooler but still mild highs into the mid to upper 50s. Some patchy drizzle is possible late as the atmosphere saturates ahead of our next cold frontal boundary.
After Thursday’s sunset and before midnight we should see rain showers push into our region, and the rain may fall moderate to heavy at times. There is some uncertainty around this system just being a straight frontal passage vs. a secondary low forming along the front more quickly to our south as it sweeps through Friday morning.
The latter scenario could produce more like a coating to an inch or two of snow by early Friday morning in the high terrain, whereas the former scenario would be a bit milder and faster, with just some coatings at elevation.
I will continue to try to sort out the discrepancies, but whatever shape our precip does take, we’ll see lows in the 30s with rain and snow wrapping up by mid to late Friday morning.
As the front pushes out to sea, strong northwesterly gusts of 30-50mph will build in behind it for our late morning into Friday afternoon with highs only in the upper 30s to mid 40s, so a blustery end to the week as Spring springs is on tap.
Oh boy, here comes the wind again, everybody’s favorite! #NOT
Lows Friday night will drop into the mid 20s to low 30s which will beget a mostly nice weekend!
One fly in the ointment is Saturday night could produce a few showers as a weak wave works through, so some showers may mix with light snow.
Otherwise, I’m seeing partly to mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 40s to 50s on Saturday and the upper 30s to 40s on Sunday behind that weak wave, with lows in the 20s both nights.
Then we turn to Monday which represents our next day of storminess, as a warm front pushes a band of rain and snow into our region.
There is potential for light snow accumulations with this, but I will need some more time to parse it all out, but it’s something to watch as March does enjoy playing the wintry mischief-maker, as we all know!
Have a great day!
