YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning everybody, the main weather story we have on our horizon is Sunday and Sunday night which looks quite windy, quite rainy, and quite mild.
Prior to that, we have our last chance for light snow that I can foresee this season for early tonight.
This potential looks to present as a narrow band/stripe of mixed rain and snow changing to snow from about 8pm to 4am as a wave moves through the region, most likely setting up from west to east along/south of Rt. In WMass, CMass and northern CT.
However, there’s a low chance it will set up north of Rt. 2. Wherever it sets up, some coatings are possible and some areas may see up to an inch of snow on grassy / snow-ice packed surfaces.
For today, highs will reach the upper 30s to upper 40s from SVT down through northern CT (north to south) under mixed skies, with more clouds in the western high terrain west of I-91 in VT and MA.
Clouds increase later this afternoon and tonight with light snow and rain moving in, changing to snow and ending by dawn with lows in the upper 20s to low 30s. This could fizzle out, but I will update tonight by 7pm-ish as this super light event is setting up.
For Thursday, behind tonight’s weak system, we’ll see high pressure setup off to our northeast which will generate onshore, easterly flow keeping (at best) a partly sunny sky over the region and at worst, mostly cloudy skies with highs in the 40s. Lows will dip to either side of 30º under mostly cloudy skies so lunar eclipse viewing may be compromised.
For Friday, partly sunny skies are expected with highs in the upper 40s to mid 50s as high pressure starts to set up more south of us, generating southerly flow. Lows will be in the 35-40º range.
The weekend looks quite mild with highs Saturday reaching well into the 50s, and by Sunday upper 50s to mid 60s!
However, while Saturday will be dry (our weekend pick!), Sunday looks stormy with strong southerly winds developing that may become damaging in isolated spots, preceding heavy rainfall by late afternoon through Sunday evening and night as a frontal boundary is slowly dragged eastward, draped southward off of a low pressure system in Canada that will be tracking east.
In fact, we may see rain last into the first half of Monday, especially for areas east of I-91 so a wet morning commute may be on tap for some.
Monday looks blustery with west-northwest winds picking up behind the front, but with Pacific air invading the U.S., Tuesday looks mild in the upper 40s to mid 50s as Winter continues to wane.
Have a great day and if you haven’t had a chance yet and if you’d like to see my work continue here, I’m hoping for around 480 final patrons out of 59k followers to chip in any amount by Sunday ($10 once, $3/month, whatever) to help me reach my 4% reader-support goal (1 in 25 folks chipping in what they can).
