>>> DAVE’S WEEKLY WEATHER NUTSHELL <<<
–Heat Advisories are up for the Pioneer Valley of WMass down into Hartford County CT, as well as southeast VT and southwest NH
–Heat with highs in the mid 80s to low 90s and humidity with dewpoints in the 60s to low 70s will combine to produce heat indices in the mid 90s or so today through Friday
–Sunshine should be abundant but can’t rule out some clouds at times from Idalia’s remnants today and tomorrow
–Mostly clear at night, except where patchy fog forms late as temps cool to the dew points
–By Thursday and Friday, we can’t rule out some isolated showers or a thunderstorm each afternoon as a Great Lakes trough starts to impinge on our region
–By Saturday and Sunday, the trough comes east into New England, sparking a few periods of scattered showers with a few thunderstorm in a pre-frontal atmosphere
–By Sunday or Monday a cold front will sweep into the region with more thunderstorms possible, followed by a cool down early to middle of next week with much drier air and highs only in the 60s and 70s, but before we talk details let’s check a note from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo, with their newest location in the Stop & Shop Plaza on King Street in Northampton, MA.

>>> MORNING DISCUSSION <<<
Good morning folks, more than ever this week have I realized that when things are going pretty well in life and running pretty smoothly, don’t take it for granted. Appreciate any flow states in which you find yourself, because ultimately as much as many of us crave comfort and/or order, we live in a chaotic Cosmos, and at some point that will visit upon all of us, of that we can be sure.

Speaking of chaos, let’s talk about the weather!

It’s actually pretty ordered this week with a giant upper ridge ruling our roost through Friday for the most part.

We have the next 4 days to expect hot and humid conditions to develop through the region, with highs in the mid 80s to low 90s, and dewpoint temps in the miid 60s to low 70s. This will push heat indices (the “feels like” temp) into the mid to possibly upper 90s, with any upper 90s potential being mostly relegated to Thursday which is when the heat should peak.

It will be mostly sunny during the day and mostly clear at night with lows in the 65-70º range with patchy fog possible each very-early morning.

Once we get to Thursday, our upper trough in the Great Lakes will slowly start to trudge east in a slow moving atmospheric flow.

Part of the slowness has to do with Idalia’s remnants blocking up traffic east of us, southeast (today) and south (tomorrow) of Nova Scotia, before it pulls east and away late week. After that, we can flush the heat and humidity seaward by early next week.

So, with that trough coming in, we can’t rule out a few isolated showers or a thunderstorm Thursday or Friday afternoon.

But it’s really Friday night into Sunday when we should see cooler temps in the 70s and 80s as the heat breaks, clouds build, and periods of showers with a few thunderstorms tracks into the region. Timing of showers is uncertain at this time, so if you have plans, please stay tuned for updates as the week rolls along.

By early next week, a cold front should sweep our region, and allow for significantly cooler temps and drier air to work back into the greater WMass region with sunshine and highs in the 60s and 70s and lows in the 40s and 50s the way it looks now, but I will update as we get closer.

Have a great day!

>>> BE KIND <<<
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
