Good morning folks, we had another chilly night, but not as cool as the previous evening, with some upper 40s and 50s this morning.
To summarize, we’re expecting one more low-humidity, lovely late-summer day before humidity increases tomorrow with more warmth and a few later-days showers and storms to be HOPEFULLY followed by periods of much-needed rainfall on Labor Day through Monday night and Tuesday with clearing by mid-week or so, but before we dive into all of the weather details below, let’s check a note from our local weekend sponsor, #YankeeMattressFactory, with their main headquarters in Agawam, MA along with stores located around the valley.

A NOTE FROM OUR WEEKEND SPONSOR:
DHTWN is sponsored by members, patrons, and Yankee Mattress Factory. Yankee Mattress is employee-owned, and mattresses are handmade locally in Agawam, MA. Several years ago I purchased a Yankee mattress and was very pleased with their quality and the buying experience, which was friendly and low pressure. Starting on September 1st and running through October 31st, Yankee Mattress will be partnering with the American Cancer Society to raise money to support breast cancer research and local services. A portion of each mattress sale will go towards their goal of donating $10,000 towards this cause. ***DHTWN DAILY WEATHER REPORT***
——————————————-
Good morning everybody, we’ve got a slowly-departing high pressure system still working its relaxational magic over us today, with mostly sunny skies expected and highs in the upper 70s to low 80s as a light southwest wind begins to set up shop through the region.
This will set the stage for increasing humidity by tomorrow into the early-week period, but for today we’ll enjoy one final low-humidity star-facing time period (that’s a SFTP, for those following along at home) with dewpoints in the 50s for a comfy day.
Lows tonight will hang somewhere in the 55-60º range as humidity starts to creep in, along with some additional cloudiness, but we should be partly cloudy on average.
For Sunday, warmth and humidity returns as high pressure tracks east and offshore, strengthening southerly flow, and pushing highs up and into the low to mid 80s.
Not a heat burst, really, but noticeably warmer. What will also be noticeable is dewpoints crawling up to the 60s, so we’ll feel the muggy meter tacking to the right on our imaginary dial.
We may see a few scattered showers at times, especially in the afternoon and early evening, but Sunday may end up mostly dry, so I wouldn’t expect much if any rainfall, but I will update you if that changes.
More scattered showers will increase Sunday night as a cold front approaches from the west, and lows will only sit down into the low to mid 60s as clouds increase. A thunderstorm is possible, but severe weather is not expected.
By Monday, our front will move into the region, slow and possibly stall, focusing much-higher moisture levels in the region, and helping to create periods of showers – that’s the hope, and how things look now.
Highs will only reach the low 70s, and showers should continue Monday night with lows in the low 60s as a wave of low pressure potentially develops and rides along that front, just south of the greater WMass region.
This could take high moisture content in the air and produce additional heavy rainfall, at times, Monday night into Tuesday morning before any shower activity begins to abate by afternoon with highs either side of 70º. Lows will be in the 50s.
By mid to late next week, high pressure will move through and push our highs back into the low to mid 80s.
Yes, Meteorological Autumn has arrived, but Astronomical Summer is still in place for the next 2-3 weeks, so it ain’t over yet, my friends.

“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
