After wind gusts overnight of 20-35mph in parts of our region, with sunshine, slackening winds, highs in the low to mid 60s, you wouldn’t know that a hurricane producing the lowest pressure that Canada has ever recorded at 931mb (940mb previous record) passed just 400-500 miles east of us.

Fortunately for our region, we have pretty pedestrian weather for the next 7 days, so I’ll double–dash it out below, and highlight one or two potential wrinkles that may or may not come to pass.

–High pressure builds in today, so winds slacken, and sunny highs in the low to mid 60s rule our roost
–Wind continues light tonight with lows in the low to mid 40s under partly cloudy skies
–For Sunday, an upper low in the western Great Lakes will be trucking east and send forth its warm front at the surface toward New England
–We’ll have a partly sunny day on average, but clouds will not be shy about making their presence known
–Highs will reach the mid to upper 60s, and a few isolated showers are possible at any time
–As we approach the later afternoon and evening, showers should become a bit more evident, and we could see some thunderstorms at night
–Whenever you have a warm front, you have to watch for low level spin in the atmosphere, which rarely produces rotating t-storms, and those need to be watched, but severe weather potential is almost non-existent tomorrow night
–Lows will drop into the low to mid 50s
–For Monday, we’ll be in between frontal boundaries, with some scattered showers at times, but it doesn’t look like a very wet day
–Highs will reach the mid 60s to low 70s, lows in the upper 40s as we dry out
–Tuesday could feature a spot shower with highs in the 60s with lows in the 40s
–The Wednesday through Friday period looks generally fair with mostly sunny skies and highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s
–It is by next weekend that we have to watch what is likely to become major Hurricane Ian before running into the western FL coastline
–Its remnants may track into New England and produce some much needed rainfall, so I’ll be updating you on that
–After that, the early to mid week period as Ian’s remnants are swept eastward may see the arrival of a deeper shot of cold air as we enter October which could place us in the 50s for highs and 30s for lows for days in a row, so stay tuned!
