WEATHER REPORT
Good morning everybody, wouldn’t you know it, we’re still hurtling through Space on this extremely smooth ride called Spaceship Earth. Speaking of smooth rides, allow me to smooth over the details with a plethora, a polyphony, and a proliferation of double–dashes for your skimming pleasure!
–We’re starting off partly to mostly cloudy as an upper level trough swings through the region early this morning
–This feature will capture Fiona from going out to sea northeast of Bermuda and direct it north into eastern Nova Scotia overnight tonight, causing major damage there
–For us here, the trough will produce morning clouds that should lead to developing sunshine by afternoon
–However, with fresh cold air advection behind the Canadian cold front that passed through and brought substantial rain to our region, highs will only reach the upper 40s to upper 50s from north to south (check the ZoneCasts for your sub-region)
–In addition, it will be super dry with dewpoints in the 30s and 40s
–With a strong pressure gradient from high pressure to the west, northwest winds should continue to gust 15-30mph today
–For tonight, a Frost Advisory is up for southern VT and the northern Taconics
–We’re not only missing impacts from Fiona that are too close for comfort, but because of Fiona and the continued pressure gradient producing NW wind gusts 15-30mph, we’ll avoid a widespread frost
–Most lows will be in the upper 30s to low 40s, but southern VT and the northern Berkshires will see mid to upper 30s lows, with a few spots in the southern Greens dipping to the low 30s
–For Saturday, wind continues for the first half of the day, then slackens
–Expect a milder, mostly sunny day with highs in the low to mid 60s, and partly cloudy at night with lows in the low/mid 40s
–For Sunday, we start off sunny, but cloud up by afternoon with some scattered showers expected before sunset
–Highs will top out in the mid to upper 60s with lows in the low 50s as showers become more numerous with the approach of a warm front
–Monday looks to feature mostly cloudy skies with the WMass region sitting in the pre-cold-frontal trough area, so we can expect some isolated showers in spots and highs in the mid 60s to low 70s, with lows in the 50s
–By Tuesday, another cold front should work through the region and skies should become sunny with time. Highs again in that 65-70º range look reasonable at this range
–By mid to late week, we will cool back down behind the cold front with highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s under mostly sunny skies as high pressure approaches
–The only fly in the ointment I can see now is that what looks to become Hurricane Hermine in the eastern Gulf of Mexico, may end up crossing the southeast U.S. and come up the coast as a tropical storm or extratropical system, which may bring copious rain, and even some wind to us by next Friday and Saturday
–However, LOTS can change between now and then, likely will so don’t take this as gospel by any means. It’s just a potential that’s worth pointing out for now.
Have a great day!

“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
