Western Mass Regional Weather for September 15, 2022

Good morning folks, it’s a bit chilly out there this morning, but that will pale in comparison as temps drop another 10º in just about 24 hours from now!

Fair weather will last into early Sunday with weekend warming, and then a period of unsettled conditions will develop due to a cold front slowly moving in from the north, but before we dive into all of the weather details below, let’s check a note from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo, with their newest location in West Springfield, MA.

WEATHER REPORT
Good morning folks, remember to raise those ‘brows, hold, and do 3 reps of 10 smiles separated by 3 deep slow breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth. If we can’t or won’t move our bodies, we can at least start there #FaceYoga

As for my weather blabbings and blubberings, there’s not too much to discuss, but I will let the double–dashes direct your attention to the day’s details, so here goes, wish me luck! #YouCanDoItDave #ThanksForBelievingInMe

–Blue sky is really just Outer Space, the end
–I’m kidding, really I painted it that color last night, and now I’m very tired, it was a big job!
–I’m just joshing with you, really it’s just the iris of my left eye looking back at you (hello, there!), because last night I ate some peanuts, had an allergic reaction, and now my body is like a quarter size of the Moon and it floats, so I’m currently in orbit around the Earth, send help and anti-inflammatory meds, TIA
–Ok, in all seriousness, we have weather to discuss, albeit quite pedestrian for the next several days
–For today, despite a few fair weather clouds at times, we should enjoy a mostly sunny day with highs in the 60s across the region with very dry air whooshing into the region #TechnicalTerm
–Departing low pressure will weaken the light pressure gradient over the region, so any northwest wind gusts of 15-25mph or so will slacken to light/calm by tonight
–Dew point temps will continue to crash into the 30s and 40s, and by tonight our air temps will settle down to almost match them
–It will be dry, clear, and calm overnight, which is what you need to maximize radiational cooling heading into the cold season
–Lows under mostly clear skies will mostly be in the upper 30s to mid 40s, but we can’t rule out some patchy frost in the southern Green Mountains of VT with lows in the mid to upper 30s there, the coldest night since the end of the ’21-’22 cold season
–Some patchy fog is possible late
–High pressure dominates Friday and Saturday as well with mostly sunny skies expected
–Highs Friday reach the mid 60s to low 70s with lows in the mid to upper 40s
–Highs Saturday reach the low to mid 70s with lows in the mid to upper 50s
–By Sunday, we are going to watch a storm racing through Canada, and it will be pressing a cold front south toward New England
–How far south it gets before it slows or stalls will dictate Sunday high temps and what kind of shower chances we’ll have
–For now, it appears the front stays north of us, keeping us warm with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s, but that could change (meaning, a cooler day is possible if the front tracks more south into the greater WMass region)
–Showers would likely hold off toward evening with this scenario, but I will update as we get closer
–Monday looks to be the most showery at the moment, so expect mostly cloudy skies with periods of showers and maybe a thunderstorm with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s
–Tuesday should produce some showers early which will then depart, leaving us with highs in the mid 70s
–Wednesday should produce fair weather with highs again in the 70s

That’s all for now… have a great day!

AND REMEMBER…
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
