>>> MORNING DISCUSSION <<<
Good morning everybody, high pressure out of central Canada is finally building into the region today and has overspread drier air and sunnier skies, so we have that going for us.
Highs today and tomorrow will reach the mid to upper 60s in the hills to the low 70s down in the valley. And with way lower dewpoints moving into the region, it will feel lovely compared to our recent #FloodFest2023.
We’ll have enjoy clear skies tonight with lows in the mid to upper 40s, and while we’ll be sunny Friday morning, by afternoon we’ll see high to mid clouds building from southeast to northwest into our region as the afternoon wears on with Lee’s expanding cloud shield overspreading our region.
Clouds will thicken Friday night as Lee pulls closer to southern New England.
Guidance has come into better agreement that while Lee will take a last-minute northwest jog toward the Cape, it will have been on a NNE trajectory toward Nova Scotia, so at this point it appears any close swipe of Cape Cod is unlikely, though I will keep an eye on it.
Friday night lows will drop into the low to mid 50s, and northerly breezes will kick up to 20mph at times.
By Saturday morning and mid-day, Lee as a Category 1 hurricane will be passing well to our east (thankfully) and this is when stronger wind gusts of 20-40mph will be felt in the greater WMass region, and 30-50mph gusts in eastern CMass, far northeast CT, RI and EMass, with up to 50-70mph on the Capee and Islands.
Showers should extend as far back as CMass and northeast CT, but aside from a few isolated outer band showers into the valley, I think we’re mostly dry Saturday.
Highs will reach the mid 60s to low 70s and while we’ll be mostly cloudy, some areas west of I-91 could develop partial sunshine in the afternoon, especially later in the day. Lows will be in the low 50s with northwest gusts 15-30mph.
Sunday looks like the pick of the weekend for sure with highs in the low to mid 70s under mostly sunny skies and westerly breezes, and lows near 50º.
Another front may cross the region Monday with some scattered showers or storms, but thereafter, more high pressure, more sunshine, less humidity, and peaceful conditions should rule much of the remaining week.
We just have to get past Lee, but luckily Lee will be no Hurricane of 1938 redux.
If you have interests in coastal Maine, southern New Brunswick and southwest Nova Scotia, follow your local outlets up that way.
From Penobscot Bay into Downeast, numerous outages are possible with very strong wind gusts and coastal flooding, so folks up that way should be preparing for a gale.
Have a great day!
>>> BE KIND <<<
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
