WEATHER REPORT
Good morning everybody, it’s everybody’s favorite time again this morning, and that’s Double–Dash–Time, hooray!
–We’re starting off with a cluster of non-severe thunderstorms and heavier showers in central CT extending north into the southern and central Pioneer Valley of WMass
–These are associated with a warm frontal push, and are tracking northeast more fully into MA, eastern CT, and RI
–They also could produce a bit of a punch in southeastern CMass and northeast CT with a strong storm there, though these tend to ride more southerly, so RI could be affected
–After these and other morning showers currently in southern VT and southwest NH pass through, our humidity will rise substantially for #SouperTuesday, as dew points climb into the low 70s by afternoon for many of us!
–This sets the stage for the *potential* to produce afternoon/evening severe thunderstorms, *if* we can get some breaks in the cloud deck long enough to heat the surface up to 80º, give or take
–Highs generally are forecast to be 75-80º under mostly cloudy skies
–As a surface low tracks into northern New England behind this warm frontal passage, it will drag its cold front through NY and into New England and the greater WMass region
–Pretty strong wind shear is associated with this feature, and as along as drier air aloft can hold off until the shear, moisture, lift and instability try to line up, we could get one or three severe thunderstorms to develop, along with other showers, downpours and non-severe storms
–These storms could produce damaging straight line winds, small hail, torrential rain with areas of street flooding, and an isolated tornado or two cannot be ruled out
–The timeframe for this second, cold-frontal round of showers and storms looks to work through between 1-7pm or so from west to east
–Best chance for a severe storm exists in WMass and SVT westward into eastern NY
–Please stay tuned today as I will be updating this potential throughout the day and evening until it is out of the region
–We clear things out late tonight with lows in the 50s, and drier air begins to work into the region
–Wednesday looks sunnier, breezier, and pleasant with highs in the mid to upper 70s, with a secondary cold shot moving through at night, dropping temps into the mid to upper 40s for lows!
–A breezy, cooler Thursday is on the way with highs in the 65-70º range both Thursday and Friday with lows in the low to mid 40s… chilly! Plenty of sun, though, so that’s good
–The weekend looks milder, lovely, sunny, with highs in the 70s Saturday, and then upper 70s to low 80s on Sunday and Monday
–After today, we’re dry for many days folks
Have a great day and check back with me as I will be in Monitoring Mode and doing day-of coverage as potentially strong to severe storms develop!
