Good morning denizens of New England’s Golden Southwest, we’re still suspended in the cosmic firmament and dealing with this stuff called “weather” at the interface of the Earth and the Universe, a/k/a “the atmosphere” and since my brain and hands and eyes continue to function somewhat, let’s begin another week of almost (for me) a decade of daily digital dissemination of the expected impacts on our upright bipedal bodies and those with whom we love, live and work.
We’ll have a mostly cloudy day for our Monday with best chance for Sun peeks north of the Rt. 2 corridor up in SVT/SWNH. Any of us could see a few passing showers today and tonight, though the main shower and storm activity comes on Tuesday especially in the afternoon and evening before clearing and breezy conditions set up mid-week with fair weather expected through next weekend, but before we dive into all of the weather details below, let’s check a note from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo, with their newest location in West Springfield, MA.

WEATHER REPORT
Good morning everybody, we’re starting off the day mostly cloudy with a few showers departing southeast CMass and northeast CT.
In the bigger picture, we have a vertically-stacking low pressure system out over the Great Lakes that’s getting all wound up as it sets its sights to track to the northeast and into southern Quebec Province by Tuesday and Wednesday.
This will keep unsettled and humid conditions in place over southern New England through Tuesday night.
While a few sunny breaks are possible mainly over SVT and SWNH, clouds should rule much of this day with warm highs in the mid 70s to low 80s as humidity increases.
A few showers are possible, but we should be on the drier side until perhaps later this evening. Lows will hang in the 60s with humid conditions overnight.
For Tuesday, a cold front will be tracking through NY and PA toward our region, and we may see a warm front move through first with low pressure along it as dew point temps (and therefore, humidity) spike Tuesday into the upper 60s to low 70s.
This increasingly soupy air combined with incoming lift from the front, good wind shear, and fairly unstable air will produce periods of showers, downpours and thunderstorms starting in the morning, but more so in the afternoon and early evening.
In fact, the SPC has posted a Level 1 out possible 5 threat for severe thunderstorms Tuesday (either wind gust of 58mph or 1″ or larger diameter hail stones, or both).
While not likely, a couple of storms may become strong to severe with damaging wind gusts being the main threat.
More likely is that some of these will produce torrential rain given how deep the warm layer will be from surface to sky, so street flooding/ponding and lowered visibility are the likelier impacts.
Highs will reach the mid to upper 70s and then the cold front will sweep through with showers and storms by evening and lows will drop into the mid 50s as we clear and dry things out overnight.
I will update later this evening about tomorrow’s severe weather threat, and again tomorrow morning, so stay tuned for updates.
By Wednesday, strong high pressure will be building in from the west and with departing low pressure not far from us to our northeast, a northwesterly breeze should kick up with gusts up to 25mph or so at times.
Highs will reach the 70s under mostly sunny skies with lows either side of 50º, so it will be chilly by morning.
Canadian air really settles in for Thursday and Friday with highs only in the 65-70º range and lows in the 40s under mostly sunny and mostly clear skies.
We’ll moderate a bit over the weekend, with highs in the 70s and lows in the low to mid 50s as fair weather continues as far as the eye can see at the moment!
Have a great day!
