Western Mass Regional Weather for October 23, 2022

Good morning everybody, I hope your dreams were good ones and that you are rested when you roll out of bed.

We have moisture streaming into the region in the form of clouds during this chilly but generally un-frosty morning. With time, clouds should produce periods of scattered showers into the mid afternoon and early evening from southeast to northwest with scattered showers tonight and tomorrow, mild and increasingly humid conditions through mid week, with isolated shower chances through Thursday, but before we dive into all of the weather details below, let’s check a note from our local weekend sponsor, #YankeeMattressFactory, with their main headquarters in Agawam, MA along with stores located around the valley.

A NOTE FROM OUR WEEKEND SPONSOR:
DHTWN is sponsored by members, patrons, and Yankee Mattress Factory. Yankee Mattress is employee-owned, and mattresses are handmade locally in Agawam, MA. Several years ago I purchased a Yankee mattress and was very pleased with their quality and the buying experience, which was friendly and low pressure. Starting on September 1st and running through October 31st, Yankee Mattress will be partnering with the American Cancer Society to raise money to support breast cancer research and local services. A portion of each mattress sale will go towards their goal of donating $10,000 towards this cause. Visit the Yankee Mattress store closest to you in Agawam, Springfield, Northampton, or Greenfield, or click for more info.

***DHTWN DAILY WEATHER REPORT***

Rise, denizens of the Golden West, and may you have the best breakfast ever known to you. While you imagine how you’re going to procure or manufacture the break of such a fast, I’m going to deliver delicious double dashes to your door… feel free to add a pinch to your morning frittata!

–We have low pressure east of NC this morning, and we have high pressure draped along the eastern seaboard
–We also have dry air in place over the WMass region and this should act as part of the reason why it will take a bit for showers to reach the ground in WMass this afternoon
–So, we should be mostly cloudy this morning with highs either side of 60º with light wind
–Showers will first arrive in easternmost CT toward the Worcester region, and then spread slowly north and northwest with time
–I think the best timing for showers arriving into much of the WMass region is late afternoon to evening, but we’ll see how the battle between drier air northwest affects the incoming rain shield
–Radar already has “that look” of ribbon-y returns with dry air thwarting much northward progress, but we’ll see how it plays out later today
–I think we all see some periods of showers overnight into early Monday morning with lows either side of 50º
–Monday should feature on and off intermittent showers under cloudy skies with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s with lows near 50º again and a few scattered showers possible
–Tuesday through Thursday look quite mild with highs in the 65-70º range, and humidity should be increased as well under skies with more clouds than sun and occasional isolated showers at times.
–Lows will be in the low to mid 50s, so a mild stretch is coming!
–We should lose the influence of this coastal system as a cold front swings through late week and dries us out, and brings the sunshine back to the region with much lower humidity and highs in the 50s to low 60s
–For now, next weekend looks good, and in case you haven’t heard recently, good IS good!

Have a great day, and please check out my 2023 weather calendar, the local WMass photos are the best yet, and if you enjoy learning about local weather and its history, click here for your calendar!

AND REMEMBER…
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
