Western Mass Regional Weather for October 22, 2022

Good morning everybody, we’re waking up to a chilly morning with a lovely day ahead with potential for a wonderful Sunday Sunrise followed by clouds and showers as the day blends into night which lasts into Monday leading to occasional showers into mid week, but before we dive into all of the weather details below, let’s check a note from our local weekend sponsor, #YankeeMattressFactory, with their main headquarters in Agawam, MA along with stores located around the valley.

A NOTE FROM OUR WEEKEND SPONSOR:
DHTWN is sponsored by members, patrons, and Yankee Mattress Factory. Yankee Mattress is employee-owned, and mattresses are handmade locally in Agawam, MA. Several years ago I purchased a Yankee mattress and was very pleased with their quality and the buying experience, which was friendly and low pressure. Starting on September 1st and running through October 31st, Yankee Mattress will be partnering with the American Cancer Society to raise money to support breast cancer research and local services. A portion of each mattress sale will go towards their goal of donating $10,000 towards this cause. Visit the Yankee Mattress store closest to you in Agawam, Springfield, Northampton, or Greenfield, or click for more info.

***DHTWN DAILY WEATHER REPORT***
——————————————-
Good morning folks, it’s chilly out there, Dave make it stop! By the way, did anybody see any meteor showers last night from the Orionids?

I only caught one after arriving home from seeing just a fantastic show led by Chris Devine and Minstrels In The Gallery, a local Jethro Tull Tribute show which was bonkers good!! I’ve had the immense fortune to share a few local stages with Chris, and I can tell you, this man brings mastery to all parts of the show: maestro-level multi-instrumental musicianship, acting, humor, costume, singing, leadership, and a top band of amazing musicians. If you love the music of Tull, you must go next time they play!

Wait, is this a local music ad service? Well, when I legitimately get inspired and excited (being a musician myself) sometimes it is, but now without further adieu, let’s toss it over to Dave with the weather!

Thanks Dave, well well well, it’s chilly and frosty, and for some, it’s the 4th morning in a row. Had we been in the growing season for our region, the Freeze Warnings and Frost Advisories would have been a-flyin’, but as it stands, the time has come for a number of plants to be a-cryin’… with frozen tears.

Everything comes and goes in this world including us, so we move in with the rhythms of life and death, and try to find gratitude in the Grand Oscillation.

Ok, I’m all over the place this morning, double–dashed–details galore, look out below!

–Mostly sunny today, gorgeous, mild, highs mid to upper 60s, 10 out of 10 days, we win
–Clouds build tonight, low pressure works north up the coast as high pressure darts east
–Lows drop to upper 30s to low 40s
–Sunday morning may feature a sweet sunrise especially north of the Pike and west of the I-91, so if you’re up early, look to the east, hopefully you catch a nice one
–Clouds thicken and showers arrive first in eastern CT and southern CMass by mid afternoon or soand that the shower shield spread north and northwest with time through late afternoon and evening
–Highs tomorrow will reach the low 60s, and some areas in northwest MA and SVT likely stay dry into sunset
–Showers, some heavy at times, falls Sunday night into Monday
–Lows near 50º Sunday night, highs Monday low 60s, showers tapering at night with lows in the low 50s
–We enter a doldrum zone Tuesday into Thursday with isolated showers at times, or occasional periods of rain, with lulls of dry weather, with partly to mostly cloudy skies at times
–Highs will be well into the 60s with lows either side of 50º, and we’ll have to watch for late week when another pulse of rain may visit our region as a Quebec snowstorm tries to get its act together

Anyway, nice temperatures on the way after this chilly stretch, and nothing too warm or too cold, kind of a Goldilocks-zone #GodImAgingQuick

AND REMEMBER…
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
