Western Mass Regional Weather for October 20, 2021

6:50AM-WED: BRIEF WARMER SURGE FOLLOWED BY SEASONAL COOL THIS WEEKEND THROUGH NEXT WEEK… NO WASHOUTS EXPECTED, BUT A FEW SHOWER CHANCES THURSDAY NIGHT, SATURDAY AFTERNOON, AND LATE SUNDAY NIGHT… MOSTLY DRY DURING THE PERIOD… MY 2022 WEATHER WALL CALENDAR IS ON SALE NOW (LINK BELOW)…

Good morning everybody, we’re a bit milder today as we get up and get moving on this earthly plane, and that’s due to high pressure well south of us tracking into and past our longitude, which gets us into westerly/southwesterly flow. We’ll warm through tomorrow, get a few showers at night, and catch one last mild day to end the week before we dive back into Autumn this weekend and through next week.

We’ll jump into all of our salient weather details below, but first let’s get a word from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo

SUMMARY:
–Strong high pressure throughout the entire east coast, and centered over the southeast U.S., will continue to track east offshore, and drive southwesterly flow into the WMass region
–This will warm us up into the mid 60s to low 70s for highs under mostly sunny skies across the region, and southwest winds may gust up to 20mph or so at times, so the breezes continue
–For tonight, lows will dip into the mid to upper 40s
–Thursday looks a tad warmer, and bit more cloudy as well. We’ll call it partly sunny on average, with highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s as southwest flow continues ahead of a cold front
–Thursday evening will result in that cold front moving through the region from west to east, along with a few scattered showers overnight
–Lows will bottom out in the low to mid 50s
–On Friday, any morning clouds will clear out behind the front as high pressure starts working in from southern Canada, where cooler air resides
–That cooler air will lag the front a bit, so we should get in more day with highs in the low to mid 60s or so, under mostly sunny skies, with lows in the low to mid 40s
–By Saturday, the colder air seeps in deeper, but we’ll be watching to see how quickly it develops and how far north a coastal low center will track along the recently-passed cold front
–This system will certainly bring some clouds to the region Saturday, but possibly some showers as well, especially south of the Pike and east of the I-91 corridor
–Highs will only reach the low to upper 50s with lows in the mid to upper 30s
–Sunday will be the weekend pick in terms of sky cover, but it’ll be chilly with highs in the low to mid 50s under mostly sunny skies, with lows in the 30s
–A few showers are possible overnight with another frontal boundary, and while a remote chance, we’ll have to watch for some snow showers in the southern Green Mountains of VT overnight… no accumulation expected
–Monday into at least the middle of next week looks seasonably chilly with highs in the low to mid 50s and lows in the 30s with frost potential

I hope things go your way today, and that you have a great day!
