YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning everybody, we’ve got some fog in far northwest MA and SVT but that will burn off soon as temps will rise quickly with full sunshine, despite some smoke haze that will be present for some of us today.
High pressure is pressing in from the west (funny how pressure presses on things!), and will dominate our sensible weather through the week, keeping us dry until Friday evening or night.
Highs will reach well into the 70s today under mostly sunny skies with lows either side of 50º with mostly clear skies.
Please note: there will likely be patchy fog each morning as radiational cooling each night will produce radiation fog in spots as air temps come down to meet the dew point temps and condense into ground clouds for some of us.
Tuesday and Wednesday feature peak warmth as highs soar for two days into the mid 70s to mid 80s for a true late summer taste that will be fleeting indeed, as they usually are this time of year.
Get out and enjoy it, summah lovahs, especially Wednesday when I think that most of the smoke haze should be gone.
High pressure passes overhead Wednesday and then to our east on Thursday, generating a bit of onshore flow, which should tamp highs down into the mid 70s or so with lows in the 50s all week after tonight.
By Friday, our high will be offshore, and a trough of low pressure will be swinging into the Great Lakes and will have its eyes on us for wet weather impacts Friday night into and through Saturday and Saturday night.
This system should generate showers, downpours and thunderstorms as a sharper front develops in response to incoming much cooler air, so the temperature gradient will be stronger, there will be plenty of moisture to draw northward, and there will be some wind shear as well.
This all means some strong thunderstorms and gusty winds are possible Saturday, so again, Sunday looks like the pick of the week, even though it may not be entirely dry, either.
Highs on Saturday will be tamped way down into the low to mid 60s, and on Sunday some of us may not even reach 60º, so a big temperature change is coming after this week’s warmth surge.
Hopefully we’ll eek out a decent Sunday afternoon, but it is many days away and I will keep you updated.
The bottom line is that a strong high pressure system with a cold air blast is coming in for early next week and while it won’t likely stick around, it could get cold enough Tuesday morning to produce a more widespread frost, but it’s early yet and hopefully that idea will turn to a scaled-back reality with no frost or only patchy frost.
Stay tuned, and have a great day!
>>> BE KIND <<<
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
