Western Mass Regional Weather for October 1, 2021

6:55AM-FRI: SOAKING RAINFALL BECOMING MORE LIKELY FOR OVERNIGHT SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY, ENDING TUESDAY MORNING… IN THE MEANTIME, WE’VE GOT FAIR WEATHER EXPECTED OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS AND THROUGH THE WEEKEND… LET US SAVOR BEFORE WE SOAK… THERE COULD BE SOME FLOODING ISSUES LATER MONDAY…

Good morning everybody, we’ve got some patchy fog out there, particularly dense in Orange at last check. It’s also quite chilly! Many areas in the 36-42º range as of this writing.

Despite a lonely sprinkle today, and a spot shower north of the Rt. 2 corridor tomorrow, we’ve got a trio of sweet, Fall days to look forward to through the weekend, but a potential soaking rain lurks around the corner for early next week!

We’ll jump into all those details below, but first let’s get a word from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo

SYNOPSIS:
–First of all, may things go right for you today, some how and in some way, that’s totally unexpected to remind you that good things can usually be found all around you.
–As for our weather, our upper low is tracking east and away, loosening its grip on our local conditions
–High pressure will build southeast and into New England, and help to promote dry, fair weather
–The high’s center is located over western PA this morning, and as such, seasonable temps and low humidity will rule our roost today into tomorrow
–As the high tracks off the Mid-Atlantic coast, humidity will increase Sunday through early next week, the resultant southwesterly flow will bring an increased chance for rainfall very late Sunday through Monday
–Backing up, we’ll enjoy a mostly sunny day today with highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s with light northwest wind, and lows tonight in the low to mid 40s under mostly clear skies
–For Saturday, it will be milder as our westerly/southwesterly flow sets up, and drives highs into the upper 60s to low 70s under mostly sunny skies
–Mid to high level clouds will start to filter into southern VT (SVT) and southwest NH (SWNH) later in the afternoon, and a few showers are possible north of the Rt. 2 corridor in MA, VT and NH by early evening, but likely we stay pretty dry
–Lows will bottom out into the low 50s
–One more nice day on Sunday should start off mostly sunny, with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s
–Clouds will increase at some point in the afternoon but showers should hold off until after sunset
–A warm frontal boundary will be trying to lift northeast through the region overnight Sunday into Monday, which will be the focus of potentially heavy rainfall, mostly on Monday
–In fact, up to 2″ of rain is possible, and it could at least cause some street flooding issues, it not some problems with rivers/streams, but I’ll refine that as we get closer
–Highs will tamp back down into the 60s during this period, and showers should taper off sometime on Tuesday
–The mid to late week period looks to feature drier weather again, though the sky cover will need to be worked out over time as well, as considerable clouds may linger

Have a great day, and I hope you enjoy a meaningful or interesting or fun conversation with a friend, colleague or family member today!
