YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning everybody, we’ve got a potent little storm in southern Quebec racing east and up the St. Lawrence River Valley in southeast Canada.
This is responsible for our overnight wet weather, which only amounted to a tenth to a third of an inch of rain at most, with many receiving under a tenth of an inch.
Aside from some morning northeast CT showers, or a spot shower elsewhere, showers are shipping out of the region.
Skies should be mixed across the greater WMass region with more clouds to the northwest in SVT/SWNH and northwest MA, with parlty to mostly sunny skies the further south and east you go.
Highs will surge into the low to mid 60s, with some upper 60s possible in the southern valley as some sun breaks out by mid-day as a warm front passes through briefly, followed quickly by a cold front this evening.
This will result in southwesterly gusts blowing 20-35mph by mid-day into the afternoon, and then veering behind the cold front out of the northwest with similar gust speeds expected.
Temps plummet tonight down into the mid 20s to mid 30s from north to south, and it will be a breezy tonight with a nip to the air.
For Wednesday, we’ll be between weather systems with a brief period of high pressure and cooler temps in the upper 30s to mid to upper 40s for highs!
It will be mostly sunny for much of the day, but clouds will build late as the next warm front approaches from another system passing well to our north late Wednesday night into Thursday.
As Wednesday night rolls along, clouds will thicken and by midnight or just after precipitation will be overspreading the region in mixed form: snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain, with wintry precipitation in the Berkshires, northern Litchfields, western hilltowns and SVT into SWNH, and along the Route 2 corridor in northern parts of WMass and CMass.
A mix of sleet and rain will be more likely in the Pioneer Valley south of Greenfield, points south and east.
This is not a big event, but a coating to an inch of snow, sleet, and even a light ice glaze from freezing is possible, and could cause for slick travel for the early Thursday morning commute as lows will drop into the upper 20s to low 30s.
As Thursday wears on, any wintry precipitation should change to rain, but some freezing rain pockets may linger in far northwest MA and southern VT.
Showers will wind down by afternoon, and highs will only reach the low to mid 40s with lows in the 30s.
While some isolated instability showers are possible Friday given colder air moving in aloft, we may be on the cusp of another 3 or 4 day dry spell, with highs in the 45-50º range Friday through the weekend, and fair weather as well!!
We should even get some milder temps in here by next week, but this time of year mainly means 50s for highs. Have a great day!
>>> BE KIND <<<
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
