YOUR WEEKLY WEATHER NUTSHELL
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
–A chilly start begets a cool day ahead with morning partial sunshine fading to mostly cloudy skies later today
–highs will be in the 40s to low 50s, and spot shower is possible by evening
–For tonight, lows drop into the upper 30s to mid 40s with showers moving in around or after midnight and lasting into Tuesday morning early
–Before the cold front passage winds will gust 15-25mph tonight out of the southeast
–Then they switch (or in this case, veer) out of the southwest and west and gust 20-35mph tomorrow into tomorrow evening
–Cold air lags the front tomorrow and we get a beautifully mild early November day with highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s
–Windy conditions continue as we finally cool down Tuesday night with lows in the upper 20s to mid 30s
–Wednesday is cool and sunny, with highs in the mid to upper 40s as high pressure floats through the region
–Clouds increase late in the day as another storm track east towards the region, spreading snow, sleet and rain into our area late at night
–Some very light wintry accumulations are possible, but this just looks like a mainly light event
–Any wintry precip should turn to rain by mid Thursday morning, but I will update you as we get closer
–It will be a raw day on Thursday after precip quits, with highs only in the low to mid 40s with lows in the mid 30s
–Some more showers are possible Friday, but that would be mainly south of the Pike, but it’s still unclear how that system may play out
–What looks pretty good right now is next weekend! We may just get another dry one, albeit it with cool temperatures, but before we talk details let’s check a note from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo, with their newest location in the Stop & Shop Plaza on King Street in Northampton, MA.
YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning everybody, we’re still stuck in this zonal flow, which means that the predominant streamflow which guides and steers our atmospheric pressure systems (be they high or low) is tracking generally west to east across the U.S., vs. more wavy south to north motions and flows.

This tends to make systems track faster and more progressively into and out of our region.

This looks to be the case this week as 2 to 3 fairy weak impact events are set to precipitate various hydrometeor types down on to our heads, lawns, and homes.

At the moment those “wettening/whitening” events are slated for tonight into early Tuesday morning, Wednesday night into Thursday morning, and possibly Friday afternoon and evening, though that last one is a bit uncertain as it may just scoot south and out to sea.

As for temperatures, details are up in the “Nutshell” and “Zonecasts”, but generally we will be pretty seasonable today, and then again Wednesday through the weekend with highs in the 40s to low 50s (when painted with a broad brush).

Tuesday is the one outlier to the upside, with highs upper 50s to mid 60s, and with sunshine developing by a shortening afternoons, I would highly suggest you get outside and sip a taste of that sweet and mild atmospheric nectar.

Tonight’s system is just showery (no wintry precip), and if Friday’s materializes it also looks like plain rain.

However, Wednesday night into Thursday morning’s event should bring some light snow or sleet / freezing rain around or after midnight into the pre-dawn hours of Thursday morning.

This may make some high terrain roads slick before dawn on Thursday, whereas the valley should see mostly rain, although I will keep an eye on this and update you as we get closer.

The bottom line is that it’s a mild event compared to recent storms.

The weekend looks seasonably cool, but mostly sunny both days at the moment, so I’m tentatively optimistic that we’ve finally broken the wet weekend pattern, as that was getting VERY long in the tooth.

The discussion today was a bit ramble form, but today’s my birthday so hopefully you’ll give me a pass. :-)

Have a great day!

>>> BE KIND <<<
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
