Western Mass Regional Weather for November 4, 2022

A NOTE FROM HELENE HOLMES…
“I have loved every weather calendar that you have done, Dave. When I was teaching, it was perfect for my fifth graders to learn more about weather terminology and concepts. I have kept past calendars to reread them. So much info in one place! This is a very professional, well-organized piece of work. I gift it to my son as well to share with his two sons.”

DAVE’S WEEKLY WEATHER NUTSHELL
I hope you had sleep enough to power you through whatever day awaits you, my friends, and hark! There’s fog there! Well, not for everybody, but certainly for areas of the southern Pioneer Valley down into northern CT, and some of it is dense so take it easy with low visibility.

After fog burns off, we’ll be off to the sunny races with warm temps today lasting through Monday with more clouds in a few spot showers by Sunday (though mostly dry) before a sharp Canadian cold front slaps us back into the reality (ouch!) by Tuesday through next week with much cooler temps that could precede a stormy/rainy weekend to follow, but before we jump into the details, let’s check a note from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo, with their newest location in West Springfield, MA.

WEATHER REPORT
Good morning everybody, it’s time to rise and…. wonder where the Sun is? Well, that will all be changing as we fall back an hour this weekend, so if you have old school un-smart time-keeping pieces that need manual adjustment, turn those suckers back an hour before bed tomorrow night, because the time of the 4:30pm sunsets is on the way, whooo hooo!!!!!!! What… you’re not happy about that?? We’ll pretend we live at the North Pole, it’ll be fun!!

Anyway, it’s been a l-o-o-o-o-o-o-o–n–g time since we did the double–dash–dance together so allow me this luxury and follow me down into our list-formatted report below… it won’t hurt, I promise!

–Patchy fog will burn off later this morning revealing mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s, with some mid 60s in parts of SVT
–A pressure gradient will develop thanks to low pressure to our west, and our big high slowly pulling away to the east
–This will cause southwest winds to gust over 20mph at times, which will be a bit of a balmy feel
–Lows will drop down to the low 50s overnight as clouds increase, thanks to a warm front slowly approaching from low pressure to our west and northwest
–Our weekend looks quite warm and breezy out of the south gusting over 20mph at times and with highs in the low to mid 70s even with a partly sunny day on Saturday and mostly cloudy day on Sunday expected
–In between, we should see a warm front move through Saturday night which will keep lows only near 60º, which is noteworthy for this time of year when average highs are lower than that figure
–On Sunday, a few showers are possible but they should be mostly drying out under the influence of a great upper ridge over the eastern seaboard
–Highs again will reach the low to mid 70s, and lows will be into the 50s
–On Monday, our last anomalously warm day arrives before Autumn sweeps the ridge east and out to sea
–Highs will be in the low to mid 70s with increasing sunshine, and a moisture-starved cold front will swing through the region later in the day
–Lows will drop to near 40º, and then fair and much cooler and seasonable weather returns
–Tuesday and Wednesday should feature highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s under mostly sunny skies
–High pressure shifts off the coast and brings a return southerly flow which may push us into the low 60s late week, but cooler weather looks to return after that and possibly accompanied by chilly rains with a coastal storm potential being signaled for not only Friday/Saturday, but we also have to watch the following Sunday/Monday as well, at this point!

Have a great day, and please do pick up a few 2023 weather calendars as the locally-snapped photos are killer and you’ll learn a ton of cool weather stuff including local storm history (info at Dave’s website link here):

AND REMEMBER…
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
