YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning folks, The Chillening transpired after we turned away from our star, with temps as low as 16º noted in Cummington, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were a couple of 13-15º readings somewhere in the region.
We’re currently dealing with upper ridging over southern New England which is the upper-level version of high pressure.
As such, this ridge is stuck over us between two storm systems, one over the Ohio Valley and another that is beginning to retrograde over the Western Atlantic Ocean, set to back into Atlantic Canada and even parts of Maine, where Winter Weather Advisories are up for light icing tomorrow morning.
The main effect will be for us to see thickening high clouds along and west of the I-91 corridor by this afternoon and into tonight, but that storm will be shunted southeast and away from us as it tracks off of the VA/NC coastline tomorrow.
That storm will sort of do a little dance and form the southern part of a brief gyre, the northern part of which will be our ocean storm. As the southern piece tracks east, the northern system over the western Atlantic will track west towards the crown of Maine.
Our ridge will act as the masterful meteorological martial artist and repel both systems away from the greater WMass region, keeping us dry.
The dailies are below:
TODAY
–Highs in the mid to upper 40s, mostly sunny, high clouds move in from the west this afternoon, light wind
–Tonight we’ll see lows in the low to mid 20s with high clouds around, possible thicker over the Berkshires and Litchfield hills
FRIDAY
–Decreasing clouds, highs in the upper 40s to mid 50s, increasing sunshine
–Clear at night, lows in the upper 20s to mid 30s
SATURDAY
–Highs well into the 50s with breezy winds, gusting to 20mph at times, sunny
–Lows upper 20s to mid 30s, mostly clear
SUNDAY
–Mostly sunny, highs mid 50s to low 60s, lighter wind
–Lows mid to upper 30s, some clouds increasing
MONDAY
–Partly sunny to increasing clouds with a cold front approaching
–A few showers are possible, highs either side of 60º
TUESDAY/WEDNESDAY
–Highs either side of 60º, mostly sunny
By the last week of November, we have a colder look that’s starting to emerge, and that *may* bring with it some wet, ice or even white weather systems, but for this week and next?
Dry and fair. Don’t burn stuff outside.
Have a great day!
