YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning folks, quite chilly out there with temps in the 20s to low 30s, and it should get even colder than that by another 5-10 degrees overnight!
Backing up, we’ve got a giant high pressure cell draped up and down the eastern seaboard into southeast Canada, centered over southern Quebec this morning.
Before that more fully moves overhead, we’ll have some northerly breezes today, which is why the Red Flag Warnings are still up through this evening – fire spread risk remains high with existing burns being managed.
So, for today highs reach the mid to upper 40s under sunny skies, and as high pressure presses east, the pressure gradient will weaken dramatically as winds go calm tonight with clear skies and deeply dry air in place.
This should set the stage for the coldest night of the Fall, with lows plummeting into the teens to low 20s for many of us, with some mid 20s in the Springfield to Hartford stretch.
Between surface high pressure and upper level ridging moving into New England late week into the weekend, a storm to our west/southwest, and an ocean storm backing into Nova Scotia will BOTH be kept at bay, with plenty of sunshine expected Thursday through the weekend.
There will be a slight mildening trend, but hard to call it a “warming” trend.
Highs Thursday will sit in the 40s with lows in the 20s, while highs Friday should reach the upper 40s to mid 50s with lows in the low to mid 30s.
Over the weekend, temps come up a bit more with highs well into the 50s, and lows in the 30s.
The best chance for more developed cloudiness will be Thursday night into Friday as that ocean storm makes its closest track toward Maine, and that would be mostly for areas east of the I-91 corridor.
Early next week, wouldn’t you just know it, brings more partly to mostly sunny skies with highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s. Still no storms in sight, folks! Don’t burn stuff outside!
Have a great day!
