YOUR WEEKLY WEATHER NUTSHELL
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
–Wide range of temps to start the day with upper 30s in SVT and the northern Berkshires into the low 60s in CMass and parts of northern CT, with 40s/50s in the rest of the WMass region
–We soar into the mid to upper 70s today, with a few 80º possible under mostly sunny skies, with lows in the upper 40s to 50º, with clouds increasing
–A warm front pushes showers, downpours and a few thunderstorms into the region early tomorrow morning, so gear up for a wet commute
–We get a break by late morning into early afternoon, but additional scattered showers will work into the region
–Some additional thunderstorms are possible, and may become strong with gusty winds and small hail
–Highs Wednesday in the mid to upper 60s with lows near 50º
–We dry out Wednesday night into Thursday morning
–A broader storm system pushes northeast into New England with steady rainfall by Thursday afternoon, night and into first part of Friday
–Highs Thursday reach the low to mid 60s, with lows in the 40s, and highs on Friday only in the 50s with showers ending
–By late week into the weekend we’ll have an upper low slowly bringing broad vorticity (i.e. spinning air) into our region
–This will keep the shower chances elevated along with a mix of clouds and sun over the weekend with highs 60-65º
YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning fine peoples of the greater WMass region, I just got back from a much needed trip to the Vineyard, which I am even more convinced now was where I was either a lighthouse keeper at Aquinnah or a sailor in the 1800s in some other life, because I resonate so strongly with the island itself – I just love it so much and want to be outside in its woods and on its beaches the whole time I’m there, and I have the cranky feet to prove it, ouch!
As for our weather, today is going to be early-summer gorgeous!! It also comes with a pollen spike, so beware if you suffer from allergies, but man oh man, highs 75-80º, mostly sunny skies, lighter wind: a summah taste is on the way!
However, that’s it for many days to come as our sensible weather turns to nonsense, boo!
Ah well, it’s the weather, and live our lives we must, regardless of New England’s moods.
By tonight, our temps dive into the upper 40s with increasing clouds, and then we’ll see early morning showers push into the region.
Do not be surprised if a thunderstorm or two rolls through this this convective area of showers, and some downpours are possible too, so don the galoshes, slickers, and all manner of 1940s wet weather gear protectants, as a wet morning commute appears to be on the way.
Highs will reach the 60s tomorrow, and we should see a tapering off of rain activity by later morning into early afternoon, before more scattered showers and thunderstorms develop in a brief partly sunny period between waves/fronts.
Some thunderstorms may “stand up” and produce torrential rain, gusty winds and small hail, and there’s a low chance for a severe thunderstorm with high wind shear moving into the region.
Activity tapers off later Wednesday night into Thursday morning before ANOTHER storm pushes northeast into New England and brings more of a stratiform type rainfall Thursday late afternoon and overnight into Friday morning.
Highs Thursday will cool into the low to mid 60s, and by Friday will drop into the 50s for highs!
We never shake the chance of periods of showers Friday night through the weekend with an upper level low swinging overhead like a lumbering languishing layabout.
There are some signs for periods of partial sunshine, and highs will come up into the low 60s, but it’s not looking like a clear, sunny weekend if that’s what you were looking for.
We should see an additional 1-3″ of rainfall through the weekend between all of the showery periods we’re about to traipse through.
Stay tuned for updates as we get closer, as upper lows exhibit weird, unpredictable behaviors.
Have a great day!
>>> BE KIND <<<
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
