But for the next week ahead, the only real rain chance I can see is this evening as a sharp cold front works through the region. After a partly sunny start, clouds will build into the afternoon, and our front will approach, producing showers and some embedded thunderstorms which will arrive by late afternoon. This front will pack its punch more so for WMass and SVT/SWNH, and slowly weaken as it tracks southeast. Winds could gust up to 40mph or so in any storms that briefly grow into strong cells, but severe weather is not expected at this time. After highs in the 70s today, we'll cool into the 30s and 40s overnight as breezy southwest winds turn northerly overnight and into tomorrow, gusting up to 25mph at times. High pressure starts to press towards New England late this week, setting up the northern half of what's called a "Rex Block", which also features a companion low pressure system in the Rex Block's southern half. They kind of form a figure 8, and lock arms for a while and alternately maintain fair weather north (New England) and inclement weather south (southeast U.S.). Anyway, sunshine will abound due to this feature, and now it looks to last from Thursday all the way through the holiday weekend with plenty of sunshine, and warming temps through the weekend. However, Thursday looks cooler to start this next/upcoming fair weather period. Highs will only be in the 60s, and lows will drop to the mid 30s to low 40s, with isolated frost for some along and north of the Route 2 corridor. Friday crests into the 70s, Saturday is well into the 70s, and Sunday into early next week looks like upper 70s to low/mid 80s for high temps! Keep an eye to the west and northwest this afternoon, and as the old trite-but-true saying goes, when thunder roars go indoors. I hope you have a great day and that things go your way! >>> BE KIND <<< “Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you've got to be kind.” --Kurt Vonnegut
