YOUR WEEKLY WEATHER NUTSHELL
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
–We have a cool day coming up, with showers already in northwest CT, the Berkshires and parts of SVT, west of I-91
–Highs will only hang in the 50s today for Mother’s Day, so cook some warm soup for Mom!
–An upper low is placed over the region today, with cold air aloft
–This will lead to a mostly cloudy day and additional scattered showers developing this afternoon with a low chance for a thunder rumble
–Clouds will clear tonight, especially after midnight and it is then when we could see another geomagnetic pulse coming through to produce the Northern Lights again, so I plan on getting up well before dawn
–Lows will dip to either side of 40º
–Warmer air advects into the region tomorrow with warmer highs in the 65-70º range under partly sunny skies early, trending cloudier with some scattered showers in the afternoon
–Lows will drop to near 50º with a few showers
–Tuesday should start off drier with highs rising into the low to mid 70s, but a frontal boundary will be tracking east out of the Great Lakes region, and thickening the clouds again by later day.
–Tuesday night into Wednesday looks like our next best chance for more widespread shower activity
–Highs again will reach the 65-70º range, and by late week, a drier northwest flow should produce fair weather and seasonable temperatures in the 60s to low 70s for highs
–By next weekend, though, another round of showers is possible with a storm tracking northeast from the Mid-Atlantic region
–Still, no big storms or severe weather or heatwaves in sight,. and hopefully what will be ini sight tonight is more Aurora Borealiis! Stay tuned!
YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning folks, as for the Aurora, we are expecting more pulses of solar particles to bathe the Earth today and tonight, although just how intense the storming becomes is hard to say.
However, a severe to extreme event could happen again like Friday night, and if it times with clouds clearing just before midnight and especially after midnight, we could get another amazing display so be sure to stay tuned to https://www.spaceweather.gov/ and I will also update here.
As for our weather, the Nutshell covers the salient weather points, but the bottom line is that we see a few scattered showers west of I-91 this morning, with some more anywhere in the region in the afternoon, followed by a few Monday morning scattered showers, some more showers Tuesday night into Wednesday, and then again next weekend, as it looks now.
As for temperatures, we are quite unseasonably cool for our Mother’s Day so give Mom a big hug, like Ray Mason sings about!!!
After today, we will soar up into seasonable temp areas with many days of 60s to low 70s, and possibly into the mid 70s as times, but no big weather is on the way.
Hopefully we get more round of big lights tonight, though!
Have a great day!
>>> BE KIND <<<
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
