MORNING DISCUSSION
Good morning folks, we had quite a drink of rain yesterday and overnight, with many areas receiving between half an inch and up to 2″, and we’ve got more on the way this week.

How’s that for soft peddling bad news?

Sometimes it’s better to just get the band aid off quickly and move forward.

We do have a lovely morning developing, so that’s some good news!

After patchy fog burns off, we’ll see partly to mostly sunny skies develop this morning and high temps will respond with southwest winds moving into the region and gusting 15-30mph.

This will help push high temps into the upper 50s to mid 60s, so that’s worthy of a high five, or 10-second happy dance!

Unfortunately, by this afternoon, we’re going to be heading back into DopeyUpperLowVille as a cold pool of air begins to move overhead.

This will combine with mid-level moisture and the warm surface temps to produce stronger lapse rates, rising air, increasing cloudiness, and scattered showers, along with a thunderstorm or two.

So our Monday morning is essentially the pick of the week as we have a blocked up pattern that has re-established itself over our region.

Everything is moving slowly in the Atmospheric Traffic Department, and this upper low to our west slowly tracking east, we can expect mostly cloudy skies through the week, along with periods of scattered showers at times, the heaviest of which may drop small hail and/or graupel.

Temps will also be cooler with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s in the high terrain of the WMass region, and more like mid 50s in the valley and points south and east, with some upper 50s possible by late week. Lows will drop to either side of 40º each night this week.

There could be some sunny breaks at times, but expect mostly cloudy skies for the moment.

Tomorrow/Tuesday may be the rainiest of this upcoming showery set, and Thursday looks to be the coolest day.

However, as Dumbledore says, happiness can be found in the darkest of times… if one only remembers to turn on the light.

And that “light” is the thought that by this coming weekend, we are looking at the upper level low floating out to sea as high pressure works into the region with partly to mostly sunny skies, and a warming flow, with highs well into the 60s, and possibly even in the low 70s by Sunday, which may last into early next week!!

So we have that going for us!

As always, may Life swing your way today.

Take care, Dave.

BE KIND
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
