Good morning everybody, today’s atmospheric tease is driving me nuts (get it, NUTS).

I remember when I was a young teenager and I was super pissy about not getting a snowstorm back in eastern MA where I grew up, and my Mom said “I do NOT like your disposition right now!”

Mom would be happy to know that I’ve grown a bit in that department, but it’s still hard to watch a perfectly wonderful snowy Nor’easter go to waste over the fish, but at least the Cape will get grazed tonight.

For us in WMass today, sunshine will become filtered through high clouds, and then disappear sometime in the afternoon as our upper low tracks southeast toward the Mid-Atlantic region and spreads clouds in here, and a few spotty light rain or snow showers will develop in the afternoon.

Highs will reach the mid 40s, more or less, and winds will become light out of the east.

For this evening and tonight, our coastal low will bomb out, dropping over 24mb in under 24 hours – Bombogenesis!

This will enlarge the precip shield and the wind field around the storm which will track well south of Nantucket, too far away to impact the WMass region.

However, this should not only bring some snow showers to northeast CT, easternmost Hampden County and southern Worcester County and points south and east, but Cape Cod will likely see northeast wind gusts over 60mph! In addition 2-4″ is expected on the Cape, with a coating to 2″ in Rhode Island, MAYBE easternmost CT, and Bristol and Plymouth Counties of southeast MA. Southeast Worcester County including Worcester could see some spotty coatings, but low chance there.

No snow accumulation in WMass is expected at this time. Lows tonight will be in the low to mid 20s.

All we needed was a better storm track, snow lovers, but alas, it was not meant to be. Come on Winter of 2020-2021! This one’s on life support.

Anyway, any snow showers quit in the WMass region before dawn, and a blustery, mostly sunny day develops after morning clouds clear. Wind chills will drop into the mid 20s to low 30s and high temps in the mid 30s to low 40s and northerly winds gusting over 25mph at times as departing bombing low combines with incoming high pressure from the west to produce northerlies.

Lows Saturday night will drop into the upper teens to low 20s. It’s not impossible to see Saturday night be the coldest night we see until next winter season.

****Don’t forget to turn your clocks forward!****

For Sunday, high pressure positions south of us, and turns the flow southwesterly, which could gust winds over 20mph along with highs surging into the low to mid 50s under sunny skies and lows in the 30s – the pick of the weekend!

For Monday, we get even warmer with partly sunny skies expected and highs in the upper 50s to low 60s and lows near 40.

The Tuesday through Thursday period looks mild and unsettled, with at least two rainy systems working through the region and highs in the 50s.
