MORNING DISCUSSION
Good morning everybody, who saw snow last night? I saw that Pittsfield, MA had accumulation as well as portions of northeast CT, but I would love to see any pics or hear of any accumulations you may have seen.
Our cold front is well east of us this morning and we’ll enjoy mostly sunny skies today as a result. Some areas of the Berkshires and SVT will see some clouds early with a few flurries or snow showers, but these should abate as the morning progresses.
Fresh cold air will advect into the region, gusting 20-30mph at times. With highs only expected in the mid 30s to low 40s, wind chills will dip into the 20s at times, or 20s and 30s depending on wind speeds.
High pressure will be nosing in from the southwest, and will help to tamp the wind down with time. This feature will also help to keep skies clear earlier in the night with lows in the low to mid 20s.
Clouds build on Friday as high pressure passes to our south, and east off of the U.S. coastline, creating southwesterly flow.
This will help guide a storm well to our northwest, and aid in floating its warm front towards us, allowing showers to break out across the region Friday afternoon with highs in the mid to upper 40s. Some snow may mix in over the high peaks of northernmost MA and SVT, then change to rain.
Rainy periods continue at night with lows either side of 40º.
A lull in the action should push into the region behind the warm frontal passage sometime either side of dawn, exactly when, I do not know.
More showers will move into the region, some heavy at times as more convective precipitation arrives, and some thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon with highs in the low to mid 60s! This should allow southerly winds to gust up to 25mph or so.
Rain ends Saturday night with a cold frontal passage, with lows bottoming out in the mid 20s to low 30s, so a few snowflakes are possible at the end.
Sunday is nicer, but cooler with highs in the 40s, and blustery with northwest winds gusting up to 30mph at times. Lows will drop into the 20s.
Fair weather continues Monday into Tuesday the way it looks now, with further mildening activities, as highs push 55-60º Monday and the low to mid 60s Tuesday under mostly sunny skies!
Another period of rainfall should be approaching by mid-week, but we’ll have to monitor to see how much impact it will, as it may just be in the form of a frontal passage.
Have a great day!
BE KIND
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
