YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning folks, it is quite cold out there to start our new week!! Brrr!! Luckily for the winter-weary, today and tonight represents the last real Arctic shot of air moving forward that I can see in my digital periscope for now.
High pressure is cresting eastward into southern New England today which will produce another sunny day with highs in the 20s to low 30s across the greater WMass region from north to south (maybe some upper teens in SVT where temps are below zero in some spots this morning).
Lows tonight will crash into the upper single digits to mid teens with strong radiational cooling.
For Tuesday, moisture will start streaming into the area, first in the form of a partly sunny sky. Highs will rise strongly into the upper 30s to upper 40s across the region due to a strong southwest flow that starts arriving into Tuesday night.
Lows Tuesday night will dip into the mid 30s as clouds and breezes increase, with first showers possible as early as early to mid-Wednesday morning.
A potent storm system will be cranking up over the Great Lakes and will hurl a warm front at New England, which will send more moisture, and periods of showers, some heavy at times, starting more earnestly by mid-day, but maximizing with southerly wind gusts Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
Highs Wednesday will crank up into the mid 40s to mid 50s, with lows in the low 40s.
By Thursday, periods of showers will continue but we should see showers taper off more toward the middle of the day.
Highs will still be mild and into the low to mid 50s for many of us, ahead of an incoming cold front as the storm tracks into southeast Canada.
By Thursday night, a cold front swings through the region with lows in the 20s as northwest winds pick up, gusting 30-45mph by Friday as cooler air advects into the region with highs mainly in the 30s.
After that, despite a potential for a few mixed light showers with a weak disturbance, mostly calm weather is signaled with seasonable highs in the 30s and 40s.
Have a great day and remember that my annual support drive ends in less than 2 weeks. Any level of one-time or monthly support is helpful, thank you.
