MORNING DISCUSSION
Good morning everybody, I hope that golden slumbers filled your eyes, and that a lovely day awaits you as you rise!

Unfortunately, the weather won’t be super inspiring today like it was over the past few days with a sweet Spring taste in the air as we’ll have some showery periods at times as a storm passes to our north and drags a cold front through the region tonight.

Ahead of the cold front is blotchy, patchy area of light showers that will wet the ground in a few places before we enter a mostly cloudy, dry day until about mid to late afternoon, with highs well into the 50s.

By late afternoon a cold front will be pushing into New York state and spread batches of rain showers through our region that should last past sunset. Southwest winds should kick up and gust over 20mph at times as well.

This activity should wane by around midnight, and lows will hang in the 30s overnight, mostly above freeezing.

For Friday, we’ll have a drying day with northwest gusts up to 20mph or so and highs well into the 40s, to perhaps low 50s under mostly cloudy skies with some sunny periods, and lows either side of 30º.

Clouds thicken overnight into Saturday when a more organized storm system presses into the eastern Great Lakes and pushes a warm front toward the southern New England region.

By about mid morning or so we should see a mix of rain, sleet and snow develop (rain or rain-snow / rain-sleet mix in the valley, snow/sleet mix in the high terrain and along and north of Rt. 2 corridor).

Highs on Saturday should rise into the mid 30s to low 40s and with high sun angle, accumulations in the high terrain or north of Rt. 2 should be tamped down or not even occur as rain mixes in during mid-day, with rain showers elsewhere.

However, a secondary low will develop south of New England by afternoon and evening, and this could hold in enough cold air as it tracks toward the Gulf of Maine to flip high terrain areas and northern areas back to snow or snow/sleet mix. A coating to 2″ is possible north of Rt. 2 and in high terrain areas above 1000 feet, but that’s about it.

After some morning mixed showers, everything clears out for Sunday with northwest winds gusting to 20mph and partly sunny skies developing with highs in the mid to upper 40s, and lows in the upper 20s to low 30s.

Monday looks like a winner with mostly sunny skies, highs 45-50º, and breezy: can’t ask for much more in late March!

Then we turn to the Monday night to Wednesday period, which is murky, but does hold the potential for a stormy with wintry potential.

We’ll see a storm move to the Mid-Atlantic coastline early in the week, but then we’ll have to see how atmospheric features in southeast Canada, the western Atlantic Ocean and over New England help draw that storm toward our southern coastline, or suppress it south and away from the region.

There isn’t a lot of deeper guidance support for a closer hit, but there is some model guidance that produces a wet snowstorm here Tuesday night into Wednesday, so please stay tuned for updates on what might be winter’s last gasp!

Have a great day, and I’ll hope todays the day you’ll click below and become one of the remaining 460 patrons out of almost 52,000 to help support my work before my drive ends this weekend… we’re almost to my goal (about 80%), and when we reach it, it’s enough to cover my expenses, costs, time and energy to keep serving the entire community through 2023, thx!

BE KIND
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
