YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning folks, that late-afternoon shower/storm line petered out as it made it to the valley last eve. Thunder was observed in the Berkshires and Litchfields and even into the southwest hilltowns near Huntington and Chester, but then the electricity vanished and some showers came through the region for some, and others to the east didn’t see as much.
For today, we’re starting off in the 50s and 60s with patchy dense fog noted in Orange MA, Keene NH, Pittsfield MA, and parts of SVT.
This will fog will burn off and we’ll move into a mostly sunny day with afternoon clouds developing and highs in the mid 70s to low 80s with decreasing humidity into tonight.
As a cold front approaches the region at the surface tonight, colder air aloft will be preceding the surface front, and this will help produce more buoyant air, resulting in scattered showers by mid to late afternoon and lasting into the early evening.
Lows will dip into the low to mid 50s tonight under partly cloudy skies with showers dissipating.
For Saturday, a fresher day arrives with a new air mass. As a result, it will be cooler with highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s under partly sunny skies with a few isolated showers possible and west winds gusting 15-30mph at times. Lows will drop to the mid 50s.
Clouds will also be increasing overnight as yet another shortwave in a string of them associated with a slow-moving upper low to our northwest will swing through early Sunday and spread more scattered showers into the greater WMass region.
The most likely time for showers will be in the morning and into about mid to late afternoon, abating by early evening. Highs will be cool again, only in the upper 60s to mid 70s, with lows bottoming out into the low to mid 50s.
By early next week, we should see a drier day for Monday, and possibly Tuesday as well with highs in the low to mid 70s Monday and mid to upper 70s by Tuesday.
We should see at least partly sunny skies both days, but a spot shower can’t be ruled out at this range.
Once we get to later Tuesday into Wednesday, a coastal low may be pushing rainfall into the region as high pressure sets up further south, which could produce a warming trend for later next week, so please stay tuned for updates.
>>> BE KIND <<<
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
