YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning folks, we’ve started off with some morning showers in a few spots, and even a thunderstorm in Cheshire County, NH, with a cluster of showers tracking southeast through northern CMass and into northeast MA this morning, and a smaller group in north-central CT, also tracking southeast.
We have an Air Quality Alert up for Litchfield County CT through the day, and we can expect the next 3 days to feature increasing humidity with dewpoint values well into the 60s by end of this week as our upper trough tracks east through the Great Lakes and gets ready to send a number of showery (and sometimes thundery) disturbances through the greater WMass region.
As for today, these isolated clusters will move on and dissipate, and we’ll be left with increasing sunshine as the ridge passes through our region, and high pressure sets us up with strong southwest flow, which will pump heat and humidity into the region, although it won’t be wicked hot.
Still, highs are expected to reach 85-90º under increasingly sunny skies with dewpoints climbing into the low to mid 60s, so it’ll be a full on summer day to be sure as we’re about 2 weeks away from the Solstice and peak light.
For tonight, temps will still be up, only sitting down into the low to mid 60s as clouds increase ahead of our large upper level trough that will be working east through the Great Lakes, and sending a couple of shortwaves at us around its southeastern flank, one for Thursday morning and one for Thursday late afternoon and evening.
The Thursday morning commute looks wet, with showers, some downpours and a few morning thunderstorms possible, but they should be severe if they do form.
Highs tomorrow reach the mid 70s for the most part, and we should see a lull in the action by late morning into the mid afternoon.
However, during that lull we could see some sunny periods develop and it will be pretty humid.
This combo could destabilize the atmosphere enough ahead of the second evening shortwave to help produce stronger thunderstorms capable of strong gusty winds, so stay tuned for updates over the next 24-36 hours.
Showers should last past sunset tomorrow, and then dissipate overnight with lows in the upper 50s to low 60s.
One more humid day arrives for Friday with highs in the mid 70s to low 80s with partly sunny skies, and some afternoon showers or a storm associated with a cold frontal passage.
The front swings through at night, and lows will drop into the low to mid 50s, with drier air moving in on Saturday.
The weekend doesn’t look like a washout, but with highs in the low to mid 70s and cooler air aloft, we could see some scattered showers each afternoon and evening for Saturday and Sunday, with lows in the low to mid 50s.
These conditions should last into early next week, but uncertainty exists and I will refine those changes and details for you as we get closer to and into the weekend.
Haiku of the Day:
–Back where we started
–Here we go around again
–Raise your ‘brows, slight smile
Have a great day!
>>> BE KIND <<<
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
