Good morning everybody, we certainly had an amazing stretch of dry, sunny, seasonably warm weather until last week’s late-week summer surge, but after yesterday, we can see that the major pattern shift as advertised has arrived.
This weekend is bringing records for lowest high/max temperatures for this period of June!
For today, we will see some breaks of sun along and west of the CT River Valley, but it should be a mostly cloudy day with an isolated shower or two along and west of the I-91.
There exists a better chance for showers east of the I-91 corridor, especially in Worcester County, eastern Cheshire County NH and northeast CT, both this afternoon, and especially tonight as a couple of waves of energy track west and southwest into eastern parts of New England as our coastal upper low backs toward the coast through tomorrow morning early, before pulling east and away.
Highs today will only reach the mid to upper 50s, and northerly winds should gust up to 20mph or so, especially east of the I-91, with lighter winds west. Lows tonight will dip into the mid to upper 40s, and any showers that move through should be light to moderate in intensity.
For Monday, the best day of the work week pays us a visit. Partly sunny skies are expected as our upper low pulls east and away from the coast, and highs should reach the upper 60s to low 70s with lows in the upper 40s and an isolated shower possible overnight.
On Tuesday, another back door cold front will descend north to south like Friday as yet another upper low drops south toward New England.
Highs Tuesday ahead of the front should be more seasonable, rising into the upper 60s to mid 70s. However, the incoming front will bring in periods of showers and thunderstorms by afternoon, and some small hail is possible with any storms.
Showers and thunderstorms will be possible into the evening as well as the front moves through, with lows in the 40s.
Then we enter a three-day period of influence from the next upper low with partly sunny days expected, along with periods of showers moving through with highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s.
The light at the end of the tunnel is for next weekend to feature milder temps and fair weather, hopefully all weekend… before ANOTHER upper low may drop south and cool us back down and cloud us back up, but that’s a long way away in meteorological terms.
I hope you have a great day, and as many of you might know, J&J Farms, the oldest dairy farm in Amherst, lost their barn and house on Friday due to a fire caused from a lightning strike.
Apparently their animals have been absorbed into neighboring farms for now, but they are going to need community help, so please donate if you can by clicking here.
Have a great day!
