Western Mass Regional Weather for June 13, 2022

[MON-6:50AM] HUMIDITY TANKS THROUGH THE DAY AS DRY AIR SWEEPS THE GREATER WMASS REGION INTO TONIGHT… A LOVELY, WARM 3-DAY STRETCH IS IN THE QUEUE, FOLLOWED BY MORE HUMIDITY, SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS FOR THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY… A STALLING MARITIME LOW MAY PRODUCE COOLER, UNSETTLED CONDITIONS THIS COMING WEEKEND, THOUGH NO WASHOUTS EXPECTED…

TODAY’S DATE: Monday, June 13, 2022
Good morning folks, while the showers held off for much of yesterday, they finally arrived overnight dropping up to half an inch or so in northern CT, up to an inch in SVT and SWNH, and only up to a quarter inch in WMass/CMass.

Aside from an isolated, passing morning shower, we’re going to be clearing through the morning and drying through the day as 3-day days of early Summerawesomeness butts its way into collective lives through Thursday, by which time humidity will be rebuilding with showers and thunderstorms into Friday, along with a potentially spritzy, cloudier weekend ahead, but before we dive into all of the weather details below, let’s check a note from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo, with a new location in West Springfield, MA.

WEATHER REPORT
Good morning folks, our continued string of mostly peaceful weather-experience containers (also known as “days”) will foist even more niceness on our minds and bodies for the next several days.

As New Englanders, we all know these days are numbered, and I can’t help wondering on a hunch (and based on early signals) if this isn’t the calm before the tropical storm later this Summer or in early Fall, but for now, I say soak it up, peeps!

For today (the only day you’ll ever truly have) we’ve got morning clouds and patchy fog that will give way to mostly sunny skies as our overnight system continues to exit stage right (east). Humid morning conditions won’t last the day.

Highs will reach the mid 70s to mid 80s from north to south, and westerly gusts will pick up near/behind the cold front later on, which will usher in lower-humidity air, and sweet slumbering conditions with lows in the upper 40s to mid 50s.

For Tuesday and Wednesday, we’ve got a solid pair of winners with mostly sunny skies dominated by high pressure floating into the greater WMass region.

Highs will reach the upper 70s to mid 80s and lows in the mid to upper 50s.

Brilliant, as the Brits would say!

By Thursday, a cold front will be slicing its way toward New England, though I do think we’ll get a partly sunny day with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s as southerly breezes kick up ahead of the front which moves through Friday.

Humidity will be increasing, as will scattered showers and thunderstorms Thursday night into Friday, with lows hanging in the mid 60s.

Showers and storms on Friday will eventually quit on Friday, with highs in the low to mid 80s and lows in the 50s as we clear out.

By the weekend, a low will develop along that passing front, and likely slow down somewhere around Nova Scotia or New Brunswick, and keep an onshore, easterly maritime flow into the region, which will cool us way down to the low 70s, and introduce periods of clouds and showers on Saturday, with a sunnier look for Sun Day.

That’s all for now, peeps! Have a great day, and remember…

“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
