YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning folks, we’ve got mostly dry weather on the way through the middle of next week with the only real chance for rain coming Friday afternoon or evening with a line of showers and thunderstorms, some of which may be strong to severe.
For today and tomorrow, our upper low finishes having its way with us, which for the next two days simply means a development of late-morning into afternoon cloudiness at times after a mostly sunny morning (except for parts of SVT and the Berkshires).
A few isolated showers are possible each afternoon (especially today), and highs will be in the upper 60s to mid 70s today, and then the mid to upper 70s on Wednesday.
Lows will be in the 50s over the next two nights with partly cloudy skies, and increasing humidity Wednesday night, which may produce some patchy fog by very early Thursday morning.
With our upper low away, an incoming upper ridge of higher pressures aloft, and a surface high south of New England, the temps will come UP, rising into the mid to upper 80s for highs with dewpoints cresting 60º under mostly sunny skies.
A summer day is on the way, for sure.
After lows in the low to mid 60s Thursday night, we’ll climb into the 85-90º range on Friday with early sun, prior to a cold front slicing southeast through New York State in the afternoon.
We can’t even rule out some pre-frontal showers in thet instability pattern, and so that means that either pre-afternoon cloud debris and/or a later arrival of the cold front may tamp down the severe weather threat, so I will be watching that in the coming days.
The bottom line, though, is that we have a lifting trigger with the cold front to get unstable air moving skyward within a moist environment with nearby stronger wind shear, so severe thunderstorms are still possible with either hail or gusty damaging winds, so stay tuned.
After that?
The potential for one of the most lovely summer weekends you could imagine with highs 75-80º, lows near 60º, and mostly sunny days and mostly clear nights with lower humidity.
However, that will not last long.
By early to mid week we’ll be sent into the soup with highs 85-90º Monday with increasing humidity, and then WELL into the 90s Tuesday and Wednesday with dewpoints cresting 70º, which means hazy, hot and bumid weather, with a potential for someone to hit 100º.
Summer is coming folks, so get out the ACs, the shorts, the swimsuits, and the warm weather gear, because it’s arriving right around when the Solstice is rolling into town beneath peak daylight for 2024.
Have a great day!
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
