At the surface, it's quite humid with southwest flow into the region in early July. But the drier, sinking air aloft (the bulk of which is over us today) will help produce mostly sunny skies, and with no wind shear present to speak of, should keep any isolated showers or thunderstorms that do form in check from becoming widespread or becoming too tall/powerful. Also, they should be mostly relegated to high terrain areas. Highs today will reach the upper 80s to mid 90s for many of us, and Heat Advisories are up for southeast VT, southwest NH and the Taconics of eastern NY. It will be quite humid with dewpoints in the 60s to low 70s. Any showers or storms die down with the setting of the sun and cooling of the surface, with patchy dense fog possible late, and lows in the mid 60s to low 70s under partly cloudy skies with humid conditions. For Friday, today's twin pays us a visit, though it will be a couple of degrees "cooler". Highs should reach the mid 80s to low 90s with some isolated showers or storms in the afternoon possible, especially over the Litchfields, Berkshires, and Taconics by evening. Lows will be 65-70º. On Saturday, we've got the waning influence of our upper level ridge which has provided all of this sunshine and less in the way of rainfall, but it will be breaking down as and upper low to our southwest sends a surface low towards the Mid-Atlantic region by Sunday. As moisture increases Saturday, and a bit of wind starts to approach aloft, we could see some isolated to scattered strong to severe thunderstorms develop late in the afternoon with gusty wind potential. Highs will remain in the 80s under partly sunny skies with humid conditions continuing, and lows in the mid to upper 60s with some showers and storms into the night. The Sunday to Tuesday period looks unsettled at the moment, as we'll be watching at least two areas of low pressure (one likely Sunday and another Monday) swing into the area, and bring with each periods of rainfall along with a few thunderstorms mixed in. The moist, humid air mass will foster heavy rain at times. Highs will only reach the mid 70s to mid 80s with plenty of clouds around. It's a good distance in the future, so I will have to refine things as we get closer, but at the moment Tuesday into Wednesday may produce a drying effect as these systems track east and out of our region. It seems like we've landed in a "3 days on, 3 days off" pattern of fair to unsettled weather, but we'll see if that continues past the middle of next week when we get closer. Have a great day, and if you are around Northampton, MA, come see me and my friends play music in the bands "Simple Friend" and "King Radio" in back of the Northampton Brewery, outside next to the parking garage. The show runs 6-8pm, there are a few tables and you can order food and drink from the Brewery, and it's a nice hang, hope to see some of you folks there! >>> BE KIND <<< “Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you've got to be kind.” --Kurt Vonnegut
