Western Mass Regional Weather for July 29, 2022

Good morning folks, we’ve got reports of patchy dense fog at Orange, Westfield, Chicopee, Springfield, Brattleboro and other regional locations this morning. As we heat the surface, the fog will evaporate, and we’ll be off to one more humid day before some overnight showers lead to a drier, sunnier Saturday through Monday period, which will be followed by scattered showers and storms on Tuesday afternoon, with hot and humid conditions returning for late next week, but before we dive into all of the weather details below, let’s check a note from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo, with their newest location in West Springfield, MA.

WEATHER REPORT
Good morning everybody, it’s super foggy in some places this morning as we are getting up and at ’em, but that will change with time. I’m gonna jump into summary mode below, and thank you as always for reading.

SUMMAH-RY
–Patchy fog will burn off this morning with time, revealing a mostly sunny day with highs well into the 80s
–It will be humid with dewpoints well into the 60s, and west wind may gust 10-20mph at times
–For tonight, low pressure off of the Mid-Atlantic will lift northeast, passing south of the New England shoreline, and likely spread a shield of rain showers north into parts of southern New England
–How far north it gets is uncertain, but we should at least see showers up to the level of the Pike in southern portions of WMass/CMass, including all of northern CT, and possibly further north, especially the more east you go (well east of I-91 in WMass/CMass)
–Lows tonight will drop into the 50s and low 60s mostly, with a few mid 60s in northern CT, and showers should move in and out between 8pm-5am
–For Saturday and Sunday, high pressure swings in behind a secondary cold front, and delivers much drier and more comfortable air, with plenty of sunshine
–Highs Saturday will reach the upper 70s to low 80s with lows in the mid to upper 50s, whereas Sunday will be a touch warmer, with highs in the low to mid 80s and lows in the low 60s
–Monday looks nice, too, as high pressure dominates the 3-day Sat-Mon period, with highs in the mid to upper 80s and lows in the 60s with sunny/clear skies
–Tuesday will feature a frontal boundary approaching the region, and should touch off some scattered showers and thunderstorms later in the day
–Highs again will reach the mid to upper 80s with lows in the 60s
–Wednesday is very warm to hot with highs in the 85-90º range with sunshine, and then we get legit heat Thursday and Friday with highs well into the 90s and lows near 70º with increased humidity and more sunshine
–The following weekend is unclear at the moment, but the hope is a frontal boundary will bring temps back down into the 80s, and that if we do get our second heat wave, it will be a shorter 3-day version from Wednesday through Friday for some

AND REMEMBER…
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
