>>> MORNING DISCUSSION <<< Good morning everybody, we have a warm frontal wave moving through today with periods of showers, heavy at times, and this may lead to areas of street flooding depending on where showers and any storms setup. The atmosphere has been re-juiced, and so it will be easier to generate downpours in spots across the region. Highs today will only reach the low to mid 70s for the most part, with some upper 70s possible. After an early afternoon lull, we should see more showers with some thunderstorms late afternoon and this evening into the first part of the night, with lows in the mid to upper 60s with patchy fog and humid conditions continuing. Monday is the biggest threat for severe weather over the next week. We'll be entering the pre-frontal trough, well east of a frontal boundary that will move through on the 4th of July itself. This region will feature stronger wind shear than we've seen in a while (wind shear refers to changes with wind speed with height, in this case, though it can also mean changes in wind direction as well). This combined with stronger instability and high moisture content will set the stage for afternoon scattered showers and thunderstorms, some of which could be strong to severe with potential for strong, damaging wind gusts, torrential rain and frequent lightning. Highs tomorrow will reach the upper 70s to mid 80s, and the shower/storm threat will continue past sunset before things wane into Tuesday morning For the 4th of July / Tuesday, the chance for showers/storms decreases, but some of us will get wet under scattered downpours and t-storms in the afternoon, so have a plan for your outdoor activities in case the cloud bellies darken and the white cauliflower tops tower ever higher to your west as you grill, laugh, talk, drink, and enjoy life together. Highs will reach the upper 70s to mid 80s again with lows in the 60s, which sets the stage for a heat surge Wednesday and Thursday. At that time, we'll see ridging move east into the region as the inclement weather is swept seaward, and temps will jump up under mostly sunny skies into the mid 80s to low 90s both days with lows near 70º. #SummahLovahsRejoice By Friday into Saturday, another disturbance will bring additional chances for showers and thunderstorms but will parse through that as we get closer. Have a great day! >>> BE KIND <<< “Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you've got to be kind.” --Kurt Vonnegut
