YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning folks, I’m sure some of you were woken up that lone thunderstorm that worked through the region from WMass into southwest NH overnight about 1-2am or so, fun times!
As far as today is concerned, while Flood Watches are up region-wide, I think effectively that flooding will mostly or not at all come to fruition northwest of an area from Hartford County, through eastern Hampden County, and extending through the southern half of Worcester county today.
We’ll see much less rainfall compared to those areas mentioned, as well areas south and east of those areas — this is where the best chance for isolated street or flash flooding instances are possible.
This morning is when we’ll see any showers push through from southwest to northeast, and by afternoon we should much less activity to no rain.
Highs will reach well into the 80s, and it will be very, very humid, with another round of showers, downpours and thunderstorms that may flare up in WMass late afternoon into early evening before everything quits.
Lows will fall into the mid 60s, and high pressure will start to nudge in for the Sunday through Wednesday timeframe, which is when our next and (for this pattern, anyway) final heat wave will form over southern New England.
Heat Advisories are going to definitely be needed no later than Monday, and possibly as early as tomorrow.
Sunday actually may turn out to be a supremely great weather day, as dewpoint temps are forecast to take a dip down into the upper 50s to mid 60s as drier air mixes down from aloft, while air temp highs climb into the upper 80s to low 90s under sunny skies, with lows in the mid to upper 60s.
By Monday, however, humidity surges back and lasts through Wednesday with highs in the upper 80s to mid 90s each day with dewpoints in the 70s, and resultant heat indices climbing into the upper 90s to 105º range, which will likely compromise air quality at times, and require heat-sensitive folks to stay in air conditioned space, and take it easy early to mid week. Lows will be in the low 70s.
Each day will feature potential for scattered showers, downpours and thunderstorms, and Wednesday evening’s activity could be strong to severe with a cold front incoming.
However, at the moment, I am hopeful that cold front will pass through later Wednesday evening into the night, which could tamp down the severe threat.
Once that front passes, much lower humidity passes into the region later Thursday, and likely through the weekend!
Highs looks to be below average, in the mid 70s to low 80s with dewpoints in the 50s, and possibly 40s at times, with low temps in the 50s.
Relief is starting to come into view, but we’ve got more showers, downpours, thunderstorms, high humidity, and another heat wave to get through first.
Hang in there, stay hydrated, and have a great day!
Help, I’m humid, stop!
Droopy and drowsy
