YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning, it is Arctic-ly cold this morning, down to -20º in some areas. Thankfully, current wind gusts are under 15mph, but ANY breezes will make it feel colder, well below zero so you need to bundle up this morning.
Cold Weather Advisories are now up for SVT, the Berkshires, the western hilltowns, & northern Litchfield County CT this morning through 10am.
I can feel the cold trying to press inside!
As for our weather, there isn’t much to really discuss other than temperatures as we are dominated by giant and potent high pressure and confluent air flows over New England through into early next week that will, in general, promote sinking air of higher pressures, pressing down onto the Earth from the sky, causing fair weather conditions and partly to mostly sunny skies.
With that said, here are the dailies:
For today/Wednesday, highs will be very cold and only reach the single digits in southern VT and far northwest MA, and rise into the low to mid teens in the rest of WMass, CMass and northern CT under mostly sunny skies. Clouds build tonight with lows in the -10º to 5º range.
For Thursday, clouds in the morning will transition to mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper teens to mid 20s, with lows in the single digits above 0º, though some folks could dip below zero in northwest MA and SVT.
For Friday and Saturday, highs should rise into the upper teens to upper 20s under mostly sunny skies with lows in the single digits under clear skies Friday night, but partly cloudy skies Saturday night.
Once we reach Sunday into Tuesday, highs will become more seasonable, reaching the mid 20s to mid 30s under an average of partly sunny skies, with lows in the teens.
Again, no big winds or storms in sight for now. We’ll need this super cold air mass to relent and bob north, to have a chance of getting the battleground of truly milder air and cold-enough air to settle more proximally to New England before we can talk about more snowstorms.
Have a great day and stay warm!
