YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning folks, our northern stream system moves through the greater western Massachusetts region today with periods of light snow, at times very light, and at other times bursting moderately.
Most of us will see a half inch to 2” of snow, but there is a chance for more like 3” in high terrain areas of northern MA up into SVT or SWNH due to the fluffier nature of this snow, and especially well east of the I-91 corridor in CMass where a coastal trough may interact with our progressive weak storm and amplify the lifting motion of the air in that area, producing snow showers that should linger through much of the afternoon.
Regardless, this is a light snowfall event overall, and with no wind (thankfully!).
However, antecedent cold road temps are allowing and will allow the snow to stick on untreated surfaces, so take it easy when out and about on your feet or your tires.
Highs will reach the mid 20s to low 30s with lows near 20º as clouds decrease overnight.
This sets us up for a sweet Sunday which will be followed by a long stretch of dry weather expected through next week, save for some upslope snow showers in the Berkshires and especially southern VT in the Greens Tuesday afternoon and night into Wednesday morning.
A Clipper system will pass north of us, cooling us down Wednesday through Friday with fair weather expected.
Backing it up, Sunday and Monday look lovely with highs well into the 30s and lows in the mid teens to low 20s for both days and nights. Sunday should feature mostly sunny skies, with more of a partly sunny setup for Monday.
Again, Tuesday is a transition day as a cold front moves through, dropping our highs down into the 20s to low 30s.
As a weak storm passes well north of us and drags its cold front through, some upslope snow showers are expected to develop behind the front over the northern Berkshires and southwest VT where some light accumulations are possible by Wednesday morning.
Wednesday and Thursday then look cold with highs in the upper teens to 20s with lows in the upper singles to mid teens with fair weather expected.
Friday looks a bit milder with highs in the low to mid 30s under mostlty sunny skies, and then we’ll have to watch for a potential storm system next weekend, but it’s just a signal for now and not worth more than a grain of salt.
Have a great day, and if you love snow, enjoy the pretty, gentle scene out there!
