Good morning folks, lots of changes going on the WMass Regional Weather Department, as per the memo downloaded into my brain and now disseminated out to you for proper consumption, which is suggested to be paired with a hot beverage of your choice.
Might I suggest a find Sumatran blend, or maybe even a Bengal Spice Tea with just two quick dashes of cinnamon, and maybe a 30-second star anise pod steep for that aromatic hit of exotic florality.
I have no idea what I’m saying, but it sure is fun to say it.
Now, as Bugs Bunny used to sing and prance with Daffy Duck, who knows what heights we’ll hit? On, with the show, this is it!
SUMMARY
–The Sun is coming up, and we’re already above freezing
–This bodes well for highs well into the 40s given strong southwest flow with high pressure exiting east off of the DelMarVa Peninsula to our south
–Some of us may even hit the low 50s today, best chance in northern CT
–We’ll see more clouds than sun over the Berkshires/hills, and more of a partly sunny day on average in the Pioneer Valley, south and east
–A south wind will develop by this afternoon, breezy at first, but should start to gust up to 25mph at times as a cold front approaches this evening and overnight
–Clouds will increase late today and tonight, and scattered rain and very high elevation snow showers will develop between say 7-9pm northwest to southeast as a cold front sweeps through overnight
–Southerly winds may gust over 30mph tonight in the Berkshires before the front, and then gust up to 35-40mph in the Berkshires, Taconics, and SVT after the cold front, out of the northwest
–In addition, upslope snow showers will develop in the southern Greens in the cold front’s wake, and another coating to 2″ or snow may accumulate, which may extend down into the northern Berkshires and northwest hilltowns of Franklin County
–Lows tonight will be in the low 30s
–For tomorrow, it will be colder and blustery as the weather reminds us which season and month we’re still in
–Highs will be seasonable, in the mid to upper 30s, but with west winds gusting to 30mph or so, wind chills will be down in the upper teens to 20s at times. At least skies will feature increasing sunshine
–It will be cold at night with lows in the teens, so any snow melt that has been ongoing over the past 36 hours or so will freeze solid so watch out on sidewalks, driveways, and side or dirt roads
–For Friday, we’ll have a calmer day as high pressure builds in, again with highs in the mid to upper 30s with sunshine, and lows in the low 20s and light wind
–Clouds increase Friday night, ahead of a storm system that will move southwest to northeast into our region for Saturday
–While the storm passes to our west, and warms us into the low to mid 40s on Saturday, if it gets here early enough, it will start as snow for a number of us, and some light wet snow accumulations are possible in the high terrain before milder air overwhelms the region, turns us to rain, and it washes everything away
–Showers quit Saturday night with lows in the low to mid 30s
–Sunday looks partly sunny at the moment between systems, with highs in the mid to upper 40s in a mild southwest flow
–More rain and snow showers arrive late Sunday night into Monday with another system, and behind that, we should cool down on Tuesday which could be a one or two day shot of colder air
–If that colder shot combines with a potential southern stream system for Tuesday night into Wednesday there’s a low chance we could get an early March snowstorm in the WMass region, but it’s way off, and just something to monitor for now
