YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning everybody, even parts of the valley saw a period of snow overnight that coated the ground.
Did you get snow or ice? Is it still coming down where you are?
Snow seems to be mostly relegated to the northern valley this morning (Greenfield to Brattleboro) and Franklin County overall into the northern Berkshires and north of the MA state line with VT-NH.
Precipitation is becoming showery and breaking up as our storm departs and everything winds down through this morning.
After highs in the low to mid 40s we’ll see a cold front track through and switch our wind direction around to the northwest, which will send Canadian cold air into the region tonight and into the weekend, with peak cold tomorrow into Saturday night.
Bundle up if you’re heading out tonight as lows will drop to the teens and 20s, and it’ll be becoming breezy and even gusty late.
Saturday is a cold, blustery, and sunny day with highs in the 20s to low 30s and NW wind gusts 15-30mph, which should slacken at night as high pressure noses in, and lessens the pressure gradient.
With clear skies and dry surface air, radiational cooling should maximize and drop lows into the single digits and teens.
By Sunday, southwest flow develops as high pressure continues through the region and southeast of us.
Highs will reach the 30s under sunny skies, and after a few showers Sunday night, The Mildening will commence through next week, peaking Wednesday and Thursday.
Expect mostly sunny skies Monday and part of Tuesday before clouds build ahead of another warm front.
Highs will climb into the 45-50º range both days, and then rain showers will move in with a stronger warm front Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
Wednesday and Thursday look to climb well into the 50s for highs, and southerly winds will increase later Wednesday, Wednesday night and into Thursday as a strong cold front approaches.
This will produce rain, perhaps heavy at times on Thursday, with cooler but still above-average temps by Friday into next weekend.
Have a great day, and please remember that whether it’s sunny or stormy, if you depend on this community weather resource, please consider chipping in at the secure link below (options include Cards, PayPal, Venmo, or Check, thank you!)
>>> BE KIND <<<
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
