MORNING DISCUSSION
Good morning folks, the big weather story in the next week is obviously the quick Arctic cold blast that’s on the way late this week into the first part of the weekend.

We’re cold today with morning clouds and snow showers down in CT giving way to increasing sunshine and a beautiful day with westerly breezes and highs in the 20s to low 30s, and lows in the teens overnight with mostly clear skies, which should allow for viewing of the green comet that passes nearest to Earth today/tonight (more info below):

https://www.cnn.com/2023/01/31/world/green-comet-c-2022-e3-watch-scn/index.html

For Thursday, high pressure will pass south of us and kick up southwesterly gusts to 20-25mph at times ahead of our incoming Arctic cold front.

Highs will reach the low to mid 30s under mostly sunny skies, but will be dropping at night with a few snow showers possible, with lows bottoming out into the single digits to mid teens. Winds will pick up out of the northwest and gust to 30mph with below wind chills possible.

The core of the Arctic cold arrives Friday on northwest winds gusting 30-45mph with highs only in the low to mid teens, and wind chills down to 5-15 below zero at times. At least it will be sunny!

Friday night is Hoth from Star Wars, as lows crash to 5 to 10 below zero for air temps, with wind chills as low as 15 to 35 below zero with northwest winds continuing to gust up to 40mph.

Frostbite can occur in 15 minutes in such conditions, so please be careful if you must go out Friday night into very early Saturday morning!!

Saturday looks sunny as well, with highs in the teens and winds still causing low wind chills in the morning, but slackening toward afternoon and evening, with lows in the single digits.

Milder air moves right back in on Sunday with highs well into the 30s, with 30s to 40s Monday and Tuesday as clouds reintroduce themselves with milder southwest flow.

AND REMEMBER…
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
