MORNING DISCUSSION
Good morning everybody, while many of us have had our first snow accumulations back in mid-November, more of us will see a whitened ground from this Sunday night’s Alberta Clipper system, which is a moisture-starved, continental low pressure area that usually tracks out of southwest Canada, but not always.

This one will track along the northern U.S., and reach the eastern Great Lakes and northern NY before redeveloping south of us near Long Island, keeping us on the cold side of the system.

Backing up, we have major high pressure dominating in southern Quebec, bringing sunny skies for us today, along with northerly breezes and highs in the upper 30s to mid 40s.

Tonight is cold and clear with lows in the upper teens to mid 20s, with some cloudiness possible in northeast CT and southeast CMass where temps will be not as frigid.

For Saturday, an ocean storm to our east along with high pressure will produce on shore, easterly flow, bringing some clouds into parts of CMass and northeast CT, where here in western MA, northwest CT and SVT/SWNH we should be mostly sunny with highs in the mid to upper 30s.

Lows will again drop into the upper teens to mid 20s as clouds increase at night.

On Sunday, our storm system approaches from the west and overcast skies will develop.

By later afternoon or early evening from west to east, snow will overspread the region, and it will fall lightly to moderately at times at night, accumulating about a coating to 3″ across the region, with lesser amounts east of the I-91 corridor, and the higher range in the high terrain west of the valley.

We can’t rule out a few 3″+ amounts, and I will update as we get closer to this system’s likely minor impact.

Highs Sunday will only reach the low to mid 30s with lows in the 20s.

Even though it’s not a lot of snow, Monday morning’s commute may be impacted, especially in the hilltowns/Berkshires, so give a little extra time, assuming this system plays out how it looks at this range.

We clear out Monday, then we’re cold and fair Monday through Wednesday with highs in the mid to upper 30s through the period as a wintry taste settles in. Lows will be in the upper teens to 20s.

Then we look to Thursday into Friday when a much stronger and larger storm system will be ejecting into the Ohio Valley.

The exact track will matter with this system in terms of precipitation type, but assuming it comes in at night into very early Friday morning, we could have a real thump of snow changing to sleet or freezing rain which could cause headaches for Friday morning travel.

Stay tuned for daily updates, have a great day ,and if you missed the order deadline, I still have 2023 weather calendars at the link below, I won’t be doing one next year, so get ’em while you can!

AND REMEMBER…
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
