–An upper level disturbance moves through our region today
–This will spark scattered snow showers, or periods of light to perhaps moderate snow in the Berkshires, SVT and possibly western hilltowns
–A coating to 2″ is possible in these high terrain areas, otherwise a few dustings or nothing for the valley points south and east
–Highs in the upper 20s to 30s from north to south with some partial sunshine later today, lows in the teens, drying
–Thursday and Thursday night is sunny/clear, cold, highs 30s, lows teens to 20s, light northwest to west wind
–Friday through Sunday becomes milder with southwest flow under partly to mostly sunny skies
–Highs in the low 40s Friday rise into the mid 40s to low 50s Saturday and well into the 50s on Sunday, with lows near 30º Friday night, then above freezing both weekend nights

Good morning humans of gentle sloping regions in southwest New England, we have an upper level disturbance working east through the region this morning, and as such it is fostering some snow showers and periods of light to even moderate snow, and I have heard of reports in the northern Berkshires and southern VT of healthy coatings to an inch of snow.
This will continue this morning as the system tracks east through the region, and up to 2″ or so is possible in some high terrain areas, mostly west of the I-91 corridor.
From the valley east, some scattered snow showers are possible, but little to no accumulation is expected at this time.
Highs today under partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies with light northerly will reach the upper 20s to mid 30s for the most part, so a cold day is on tap. Lows will drop into the teens as we dry out and snow showers abate.
Thursday and Thursday night is the last “winter cold” 24 hour period we’ll likely see for a while as milder trends are showing up into mid-December.
It will be chilly with light northwest to west wind and highs in the 30s and lows in the mid teens to low 20s under partly to mostly sunny skies.
High pressure in the southeast U.S. will push east and off of the coastline and produce a southwest flow of milder air into our region for Friday through Sunday.
This will produce partly to mostly sunny skies on average with highs in the upper 30s to mid 40s Friday, the mid 40s to low 50s on Saturday, and well into the 50s on Sunday!
So a nice fair weather stretch lies ahead Thursday through Sunday with increasing temps the whole way! Hooray!
However, a deep upper level trough will be sling-shotting into the southern Ohio Valley which will help pop a surface low center northeast into NY state Sunday evening and night, and to the east of these features will commence a seriously strong southerly flow of moist air, along with a low level jet streak (i.e. faster moving river of air about a mile up) that will be pushing 90 knots!
That won’t mix down to the surface, but some of it will, which means we could see southerly gusts of 35-55mph Sunday night into Monday morning, with some isolated outages possible, heavy rain, and even a chance for some back end snow in the Berkshires, as this storm has trended east as of this morning.
Whether that’s a blip in the matrix, or a trend that could push even further east, we shall see, and I will keep you updated the whole way, but for now, Sunday night into Monday looks a bit tempest-y, folks!
