Western Mass Regional Weather for Christmas Day, 12/25/24

8:50PM WED 12/25/24: MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL WHO ARE CELEBRATING TODAY… FAIR WEATHER THROUGH SATURDAY WITHT SLOWLY INCREASING TEMPS… SHOWERS BY SUNDAY AFTERNOON WITH A WARM FRONT, STEADIER/HEAVIER RAIN BY MONDAY, DRYING BY NEW YEAR’S EVE…

Good morning everybody, and Merry Christmas! This is going to be a truncated report, just a summary really, given that many people are busy today, and there’s not much to discuss.

Many of us are waking up with a thin blanket of snow on the ground, and while a “White Christmas” is defined by some as 1″ or more on the ground, I’m here to say, bah humbug! You have snow on the ground, it looks pretty, enjoy your white Christmas.

Anyway, we have high pressure building through the region over the next several days with highs in the mid 20s to low 30s under mostly sunny skies for Christmas Day, and dry conditions with very cold lows in the upper singles to low teens.

Mostly sunny skies continue for Thursday and Friday with highs in the low to mid 30s and lows in the teens.

Saturday transitions to partly sunny as a warm front begins to approach from our southwest with high pressure to our south.

We’ll see milder temps as a result with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s.

It will cool to near freezing Saturday night and some showers may move in, so the high terrain may see some icing at onset.

We should all be seeing warm frontal showers on Sunday with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s, with another chance for high terrain icing late Sunday night into Monday morning.

Monday will see the cold front associated with a storm near the Great Lakes tracking toward our region from the west and southwest.

We will be in the mild sector, and highs Monday in the 40s with steadier and possibly heavy rain at times.

With rain quitting by Monday night and mild temps persisting into Tuesday, our thin layer of snow for many of us will be gone, so it enjoy today.

Hopefully New Year’s Eve will not be frigid, and will remain dry the way it looks for now, but I will keep you updated.

Have a great day and thanks for your readership and support all year long!
