Good morning folks, aside from some morning fog (recently dense in Orange, Pittsfield and southwest NH), blue skies aplenty will develop in those foggy areas, with plenty of sun already underway this Saturday morn.
I would argue this is going to be the nicest weekend day in the Summer of 2024 so be sure to get outside and soak it up, summah lovahs!
Highs will reach the upper 70s to low 80s with light wind and low humidity, as sprawling high pressure covering much of the eastern U.S. tracks east toward the coastline (and exits early this week).
Lows tonight will dip into the mid to upper 50s under mostly clear skies.
For Sunday, another mostly sweet day is on the way, however we will see a weaker wave move through the region in the afternoon and evening, which will spawn some cloud growth, and also a few showers or a thunderstorm, but most folks should stay dry.
Highs again should reach the upper 70s to low 80s with more sun earlier, and clouds later. Lows will drop to near 60º.
By Monday, we’ll see a larger upper trough dive south out of Canada and into New England, which will provide our region with a much larger area of lift, fairly strong lapse rates (as cooler air moves in overhead), and decent wind shear.
This will combine to produce more numerous showers and thunderstorms, and a few storms may become strong to severe with isolated damaging wind gusts possible by Monday afternoon.
Highs will reach the upper 70s to mid 80s with increased humidity, and lows will again dip to near 60º with some showers at night.
Tuesday represents a break in the showery action, as a brief ridge of high pressure builds into the region and brings us a nice, sunny day with highs in the low 80s, and lows again near 60º with light wind throughout this period.
By Wednesday, a surface low likely passes to our north, and drags a cold front into a humid airmass over the greater WMass region, with highs expected to reach the mid 80s.
This will pop some more showers and thunderstorms, though severity level of any storms is uncertain at the moment.
Northwest flow takes over late next week and instead of a hot and humid period, we’re going to be cooler and drier once again with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s.
